Corrie favourite Sarah-Louise Platt is to return to the cobbles - to cause more problems for long suffering mum Gail McIntyre.

Actress Tina O’Brien will start filming early next year and Sarah-Lou will arrive in Weatherfield in Spring, alongside her now teenage daughter Bethany.

Gail is already facing a turbulent few months with her dysfunctional family and will no doubt be delighted her daughter and granddaughter are back in the fold.

But it looks like her only daughter is going to cause her as much grief as sons Nick and David, whilst granddaughter Bethany has also grown up into something of a wild child.

The exact details of Sarah’s return to Coronation Street are being kept under wraps but she is sure to make waves not just for the Platts but for the Grimshaws because of her history with both Todd and Jason.



Tina joined the programme in 1999 and was immediately thrust into the spotlight when it was revealed that 13-year-old Sarah was pregnant.

She left Weatherfield in 2007 with Bethany for a new life working Uncle Stephen in Milan.

Tina said:

“I am delighted to be returning. Sarah has a lot of history and unfinished business on the street and I’m looking forward to finding out what she’s been up to and why she’s returned home.”

She was born on Corrie the same year as my daughter and she's 14 now, seriously doesn't seem that long ago when I was watching that storyline :laugh:

Watch out Weatherfield - Bethany Platt is back and she means trouble!

In this first shot of actress Lucy Fallon on the Corrie set with Helen Worth and Jack P Shepherd, Bethany looks all sweetness and light.

But it soon becomes clear that the teenager is going to cause problems for the already beleaguered Platt family.

Blackpool born Lucy, 19, started filming this week just days after landing the part. This is her first TV role.

Lucy said: “Walking onto the set was surreal and nerve wracking but everyone has been really welcoming and I am thrilled to have been given this great opportunity.”

Bethany will be on screen in late March when she arrives in Weatherfield from Milan - after a huge fall out with her mum Sarah.

She will be followed a week later by Sarah, played by Tina O’Brien, who is determined to drag her daughter kicking and screaming back to Italy.

Sarah and Beth will end up staying in Weatherfield when things don’t go exactly to plan and in the coming months expect fireworks at number 8 as poor Gail struggles to cope with her family’s secrets and lies.

She looks to suit the role better imo

having a chat and we wa trying to work out her real age as she does not seemed to have aged one bit from when she was last in the street. i am gob smacked to find out sarah is 31 - she needs to set up a ageing beauty cream - she will make a fortune.
