Saturday elimination?

Furious Simon Cowell orders extra X Factor elimination this weekend as a "wake up call" for poor singers

Oct 30, 2014 22:30By*Mark Jefferies

There will now be an eviction on Saturday night as well as Sunday night after pep talk from disappointed show boss

Simon's warning: 'You put out a rubbish record it doesn’t chart. If you do a rubbish performance on the night, you’re out'

Angry*Simon Cowell*has ordered all the*X Factor*contestants to his office and told them he’s adding an extra eviction this weekend because he’s so disappointed in their singing.

There will now be an eviction on Saturday night as well as Sunday night this weekend in what Cowell called a “wake up call” to the singers.

Speaking to the contestants, Cowell said: “There’s going to be another double elimination again this weekend, and the difference is this week is there is going to be a twist.

"And the twist is, on the Saturday, the person with the lowest vote is going to leave the show. No sing off, just whoever is in the bottom is out. And there’s a sing off on Sunday. So there are no second chances.

“This is how important the conversation is now and how important the performance is on Saturday and Sunday. We decided to do this because I think you all need a bit of a wake up call.

“And I think you’ve got to understand what I’m saying isn’t just words, it’s reality, you’ve all got to build up your game now and you’ve got to be the best you’ve ever been because this is really what the music business is like.

“You put out a rubbish record it doesn’t chart. If you do a rubbish performance on the night, you’re out.

*

“This isn’t a gimmick, because I actually can look at each and every one of you and look you in the eye and say, you are all genuinely all capable of winning this competition, every single one of you.

“I’ve never been in this situation before, it’s the closest we’ve ever been. Okay, some of you haven’t had the best performances, some of you haven’t had the best songs. But, from here on in, I wouldn’t put a bet on who’s going to win, and it’s all on you now.”

Cowell hopes the pep talk and extra eviction will lead to an improved show at the weekend, as he tries to catch up with Strictly in the ratings.

*

A source said: “Simon called all the contestants to his office to give them a dressing down. He hasn’t been very impressed with the sing offs so far and feels there isn’t any excuse for people performing badly, as this is when they should be really fighting for their place in the competition.*

“That’s why he’s decided to introduced an elimination on Saturday to give the contestants a bit of a wake up call and get them to up their game.”

But not all the contestants took his words too seriously, as some of the X Factor singers were seen out partying at nightclub Mahiki just hours later.

Bands Stereo Kicks and Only The Young risked the wrath of Cowell and Louis Walsh by partying

Could be bad for OTY since they were in the bottom two last week. :worry:

Marsh. 30-10-2014 11:27 PM

Because he's disappointed in them....... as opposed to it being a production decision to try to breathe some life into this dull series.

Raph 30-10-2014 11:31 PM

Great idea, hopefully it gets one of the bore males out of the competition

LukeB 30-10-2014 11:33 PM

mel b better give jack a great song then :(

Black Dagger 30-10-2014 11:55 PM

Hope Lola is utter wank again.

Yeah for some reason he seems to get the worst/least fitting songs each week. He's my favorite act but so far I've only really enjoyed his week 1 performance.

Yeah Mel B needs to get her act together when it comes to song choices. I'm also so bored of Andrea getting the biggest songs each week. The favoritism is unreal.

You've got more of a chance of Ben getting a good song choice off Simon than this.

Vanessa 31-10-2014 03:44 AM

Looks like they're trying to get rid of Stevi.

Mystic Mock 31-10-2014 03:48 AM

Tbh Jack's a gonner unless he pulls something amazing out of the bag.

Strictly Jake 31-10-2014 08:10 AM

Wonder if this is actually true as I don't think the schedule will allow it

Agree we need to get rid of the males especially the twat with the guitar

Black Dagger 31-10-2014 09:52 AM

noty.

Shaun 31-10-2014 10:02 AM

It'll be someone sort-of unexpected (ie. haven't been bottom-two yet) on Saturday, then, and the bands will battle it out on Sunday I should think. If I had to guess, I'd say we're saying tata to Stevi and Only the Young this weekend.

Adamw92 31-10-2014 10:44 AM

Really hope Only the Young are safe this week, I can see Lola leaving this week and maybe Jack (really hope not :( )

LukeB 31-10-2014 10:59 AM

I really don't like this idea! 10 minutes being able to vote :( i'm worried

Liam- 31-10-2014 11:05 AM

Hopefully Lola or Stevie are sent packing then :fc:

LukeB 31-10-2014 11:06 AM

it most likely be jack, OTY or stevi

Liam- 31-10-2014 11:08 AM

i could live with a Jack elimination tbh, he's been a bit wank during the live shows, wouldn't be a great loss to the competition.. but then again, i don't think he's shown what he's really capable of yet.

Shaun 31-10-2014 11:09 AM

I reckon Paul's in with a chance of going, too.

Strictly Jake 31-10-2014 11:18 AM

Jack and Stereo kicks/stevi out please!

Ahh, I like Paul but i agree with you, he isn't warming to the public very much.

ruiphillips 31-10-2014 12:13 PM

Stevie & Only The young will go

BigSister 31-10-2014 04:46 PM

prob be something like they did in the first 2 shows last year announce bottom 2 and then one will go sunday and then normal elimination on sunday with bottom 2. Prob who ever gets the least 2 votes while voting during the show.

Babayaro. 31-10-2014 05:12 PM

So it's just a 'Flash vote' 2.0?

girlfighter24 31-10-2014 06:40 PM

As long as Ben, SK, Paul and OTY are safe im not bothered who goes out but I think one of these could be in trouble

michael21 31-10-2014 06:49 PM

will the show be longer on sat

X Factor contestants face instant axe in Halloween twist (source: BBC Newsbeat)

X Factor contestants face instant dismissal on Saturday night's show if they fail to impress viewers in a Halloween elimination twist.
Voting lines will then reopen and the two lowest placed contestants will take part in the following night's sing-off as usual.
Simon Cowell has warned the acts they need to improve if they want to stand a chance of continuing.
The show is also being beaten in the TV ratings by Strictly Come Dancing.
Last Saturday's edition of X Factor trailed its BBC rival by two million viewers, while the Sunday results show was 1.6 million behind.
It has lost millions of viewers in recent years and even with the return of Cowell this year, Sunday night's programme was down 1.2 million viewers on the equivalent show last year.
Cowell broke the news about the instant dismissal to the remaining hopefuls at a meeting.
"There are no second chances," he said. "This is how important the conversation is now and how important the performance is on Saturday and Sunday.
"We decided to do this because I think you all need a bit of a wake-up call.
"And I think you've got to understand what I'm saying isn't just words, it's reality.
"You've all got to build up your game now and you've got to be the best you've ever been because this is really what the music business is like.
"You put out a rubbish record, it doesn't chart. If you do a rubbish performance on the night, you're out."
The dismissals mean the remaining 11 contestants will be cut to nine after this weekend.

This series of X Factor is almost falling into total desperation, it is a good thing they have a couple of standout acts to at least have a chance of someone being a worthy winner. This move however is to me both pointless and unnecessary.

I agree Joey.

Benjamin 31-10-2014 10:29 PM

Maybe Simon and co need a wake up call to pick better singers :idc:

:joker:I really hope not, it doesn't need to be even as along as around 2 hours now, just cut some of the nonsense the judges say out.

Mystic Mock 31-10-2014 11:32 PM

Just basically have all the acts (apart from the 14 and 15 year old lads from SK) strip off at the end of their performances, that will boost ratings for when the treats come along.

Yep, Stevi will lose his USP as others will do big uptempo fun performances [and he's doing a ballad - which is not why people have been voting for him].
