 nice pun

An elderly lady in Devon has booked all the tables in her local pub and has invited people who are on their own to join her.

kirklancaster 17-12-2014 07:29 PM

I hope this pub does well in business after Christmas is over, as it's a brilliant gesture.

Thats a really good idea too...we invivted a few single mates for dinner at ours (just to be nice tbh...) but thankfully they all declined so now I can go to my dads for dinner instead of having to cook :joker:

It is a brilliant idea and a great thing to do, it would be nice if far more did so too and also all the Churches too, instead of preaching to everyone else that they should be doing something, while doing not a thing themselves.

Vanessa 17-12-2014 08:25 PM

This year I won't have to cook for Christmas. My sister will! :cheer2::dance:

Nedusa 17-12-2014 08:42 PM

They are probably expecting to recoup the cost of food on Bar Sales.

Bit cynical Nedusa  I doubt the people who will take up the offer of a free meal will be flashing the cash at the bar

You deserve it, you're a winner

So Marsh 'n me 'll be on the next table.

No, I agree but the publicity for the pub should bring in many customers happy to spend a few quid in pub that actually cares about less fortunate people.

Maybe I'm being too cynical but I don't think when the dust settles they will be too much out of pocket.

What a fantastic thing to do ! I hope Cameron & co choke on their dinners

Ninastar 18-12-2014 08:56 PM

aww how lovely!

we were going to invite a homeless or troubled person to our house for christmas, but then I told my mum that it's probably not the best of ideas, and that we should go to a soup kitchen instead...

so now on christmas day we're going to help make christmas dinner for the homeless :D
