Is American Idiot racist?
Some of them keep saying American idiot, but is that racist?
|
No. It's xenophobic.
|
xenophobic not racist
|
Also accurate
|
Oh never used Xenophobic in a sentence before.
|
Depends if it's true. Is he/she American?
Is he/she an idiot? |
Certainly prejudice.

It pisses me off a bit cause if you were saying it about any other country, BB would probably call you in and give you a warning, when did the USA become the only Country that's fair game? |

No.
|
No more than calling Americans brash. me calling my Scottish wife's brother in law a tight wad or him calling me an English plonker. All in jest and i just don't let it bother me.
Some will call it stereotyping others will go further. meh. |

it still stings :bawling:

It's xenophobic more than racist, why they can't just call these people idiots if they're pissing them off instead of constantly bringing their nationality into it is beyond me.
But then this house does consist of people like Katie Hopkins and Chloe Goodman so why am I so surprised? |
Good album.
|
No it's a fact.
:hehe: |
I've had this conversation many times on this forum... One cannot be racist against American's because American is not a race...

..it's fine to refer to an idiot as an idiot but the 'American' bit wasn't really relevant .would anyone say..an English idiot or a Spanish idiot or whatever...so it did kind of feel that it was meant as adding to the insult in some way/just odd...
|
Well anyway Racist sounds stronger than xenophobia. 'ist and phobia are different. Phobia usually means that you can't help it. But in this case we could link both to Roots. Nigeria, and America are both roots. So a better word that links both together is Rootist.
You are being Rootist. Or think of a better word that links both together, because I feel that both cases are linked somehow. |
