The \'Damn!\' Ban

Why have Jay and Dan been banned, and a certain other members not?

I think its so stupid, and why has the word D*mn been censored, and is looked down upon? Its a word!!!!!!
Hardly the most offensive word ever.

This is gonna cause some trouble, but to be honest I dont care. I'd rather get my point across!
It seems like you Mods have favourites, because one certain member really started some trouble and no-one cared. Then it happened again yesterday and... oh, surprise surprise nothing happened. Jay says 'Idiot' and gets banned.
Those two particular members make this forum entertaining!
Jay and Dan were backing people up when they were insulted, but the insulters had nothing done to them.. again!
Dan didn't even swear and he got banned. Grr its stupid!

They make have 'broken the rules' blar blar blar, BUT so have other people and NOTHING happens to them.
Some people have moaned about treating members fairly. Why aren't we treated fairly?

So.. there!

MarkWaldorf 17-12-2006 01:01 PM

My only problem about this is the fact that Stropz got called a 'stupid b....' and the person who did that never got a ban. Yet, Jay gets banned for saying 'Idiot'.

Lil-Lindz 17-12-2006 01:08 PM

Thats just unfair

Red Moon 17-12-2006 01:12 PM

Well would you like me to review all the posts from the last nights fights and give out warnings to those involved?

Whatever you think, DAMN can be seen as both a joke to you guys and taking the micky for other people who don't quite get it.

Why the hell do people keep saying the mods/admins have favourites? It's pathetic.

If you do something your going to get warned, if you ignore that, you'll get banned. They had it coming and they ignored the warning signs, therefore its there own fault, whatever the circumstances.

As i said in another thread, your up in arms when other people swear/ take the micky but when you say things you expect it to be overlooked.

It's childrens playground stuff, grow up.

I want to see the posts compared, because last time I checked, swearing on this forum is much worse then saying 'Idiot'.

I think you know more then anyone knows they got banned for more then just saying one word.

So really there is no need for sarcasm my friend.

It wouldn't be just about the swearing it would be about who started what and who bullied who.... and then handing out the warnings. Fight starting, bulling and insulting other members isn't allowed. Then we start on the swearing and defeating the swear word filter.

Hmm, I guess.
But that little kid did start the whole Kelly/Leona argument. Which led to the Damn argument, and then to the bans. So, it was technically him.

"it takes two to tango"
"It takes two to tango" means that two people in a fight are both responsible for that fight. Example: "He hit me first; it wasn't my fault!" Answer: "It takes two to tango." Just like a dance between two lovers (the tango); one person might start the fight, but they both keep it going; it takes two [people] to [dance the] tango. Example: "Her husband is awful; they fight all the time." Answer: "It takes two to tango." A conflict is not the fault of just one person or the other; they are often both to blame, because it takes two to tango.

Hope that clears it up for you....

On a serious note, read it... have you not heard the phrase it takes two to tango? If not, the bit i posted was quite helpful.

2) Yes, I have heard the phrase. But you've just muddled it up.

Hmm, I don't get why it is confusing. You said it was the other persons fault, they both were as bad as each other. Then the people in question moaned about it, started to get mardy and got banned. So the phrase was used correctly.

And i'm guessing your Mark, as in msn Mark.

I just dont get how when people swear, they like freak out about it, with the whole defeating the swear filter thing. Then someone posts 'Idiot' and they get banned. It's just kind of unfair.

And Msn Mark? :puzzled:

Your missing the point, they ultimatley wern't banned solely on trying to defeat the swear filter or saying the odd derogortary word, it was an accumulation of things that happened.

If you look at the whole picture instead of looking at one moment then maybe you will understand why these people got banned.

And i thought you were a old member, don't matter... your a new breed.

andybigbro 17-12-2006 02:25 PM

Have they Been Banned

Is it just a 24 hour ban

There are no favorites...... Mods do not differentiate between old or new...... to them all members are the same. What they address is the situation. As far as i see it a few weeks ago you were complaining that they treat "old" members differently by not giving warnings but within the last week we've had 4 members that have been on here for a long time that have received them.

As Red said, if you want the whole "fight night" raked over with a fine tooth comb then they are willing to do it!

As far as i can see reading through the posts last night there are other members that could have got a warning...... note that I used the word Members!

My thoughts exactly.

I don't think the question should be who are the favourites here but rather, who was in the wrong.

It's sounding all so childish at the moment, looking for someone to blame, pointing the fingers.. but the best thing for everyone is to just move on and forget about this supposed 'conspiracy'.

~Kizwiz~ 17-12-2006 04:15 PM

You know what.... your right Tans..... the whole malarky needs to be forgotten. Raking over and over this only makes things worse!

whats done is done....... nowt much anyone can do about it

Hardly the most offensive word ever.
You've misrepresented the point about that word (coupled with the :bored: smiley) - it's not the word just the fact it was being used (on occasion) sarcastically towards people who weren't 'in' on the joke.

Just like comments above don't provoke people. Like I said I can always check through last nights threads again and issue some more warnings.

OR

We can just leave it and move on.

I'm not saying the warnings are unjustified.

I'm saying how come other people don't get warnings/bans for saying WORSE stuff. I keep bringing it up and it keeps getting pushed away, and there is no answer given.
Instead I get things which I said in the past!!

Hmm, i apologised, it was intended as a joke, tounge in cheek remark but was taken in the wrong way, stemming from an incident with you where again you didn't get i was being sarcastic.

You say i 'look for arguements' but here you are pro-longing things that are in the past! Today is a new day, why hold grudges? Move on...

It's not... but quoting like that does not take account of context.

I must say I'm getting slightly miffed at how a few people keep going over these moderating decisions with a fine tooth comb, trying to pick out 'inconsistencies'.

Firstly, moderators might not see every post and can't deal with things they don't see.

Secondly, posts have to taken in context - if someone snaps back with an insult after he or she is attacked it is not as bad as if they made the insult out of the blue, and started an argument.

Thirdly, we try to avoid giving warnings and bans if possible. It is only a last resort and you have to give new members some leeway.

Fourthly, there is no exact science to moderating - you can only do what you feel is right.

Fifthly, there is no fifthly.

As I said before if everyone stuck to the rules, didn't make personal remarks, reported offending posts instead of responding on the thread, used the ignore button etc. no-one would be warned!

If people are getting warnings it means the rules of the forum are being broken, and they only have themselves to blame.

Partly because we waited to see if things would fizzle out and they didn't. We started issuing the warning when things started to get out of hand again. If we had started issuing warnings straight away you would have got one which I'm sure you are aware of.

I think it's time this was dropped for the good of the site. What is in the past is in the past. Time to move on.
