USA: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev convicted in Boston Marathon bombing, death penalty

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was convicted Wednesday in the Boston Marathon bombing by a federal jury that now must decide whether the 21-year-old former college student should be executed.

Tsarnaev kept his hands folded in front of him and looked down at the defense table as listened to the verdict, reached after a day and a half of deliberations. He was found guilty on charges that included conspiracy and use of a weapon of mass destruction — offenses punishable by death.

His conviction was practically a foregone conclusion, given his lawyer's startling admission during opening statements that Tsarnaev carried out the attack with his now-dead older brother, Tamerlan.

Hopefully they will end his miserable misguided life as soon a s possible to reduce the costs to the taxpayers.

I thought we abolished the death penalty.

no sadly ours just go to prison.

I am not surprised tbh, however anyone following this story properly should be ****ing embarrassed at how inept the police have been throughout the entire thing...

Expecting defense lawyers to use 'older brothers influence' to save his life. Though personally I would rather get the death penalty than life in a supermaxx...

In Boston
there is not many put to Death
and 1 member of the jury has said prison.

The last time Boston had one was around 1947

So they need to move him to another state

"Prosecutors, however, portrayed the brothers — ethnic Chechens who moved to the United States from Russia more than a decade ago — as full partners in a brutal and coldblooded plan to punish the U.S. for its wars in Muslim countries. Jihadist writings, lectures and videos were found on both their computers, though the defense argued that Tamerlan downloaded the material and sent it to his brother."

Re-wind:

A long time ago, when I wrote on here about 'long ensconced immigrant fifth columnist Islamic Terrorists working from within all the world's democracies to bring about their downfall' I was met with derision and ridicule from certain quarters for my views.

Ninastar 09-04-2015 12:33 PM

Good. I certainly wont feel any sympathy for him

BBfanUSA 09-04-2015 02:02 PM

While he may have been under the influence of his brother, I find it hard to believe that he did all of this stuff under the influence of his brother without the thought that what he's doing was wrong.

He deserves the chair.

If he didn't run, I'm sure he'd just get life.

Tom4784 09-04-2015 02:22 PM

Give him a life sentence, let him live with what he's done and let him face the prospect of a life of imprisonment.

This, much more tough and also more just imo.

BBfanUSA 09-04-2015 02:38 PM

And let the taxpayers' tax money pay for him to stay alive in jail? No

A bit like Captain blackadders Court Martial for killing and eating General Melchett's favourite pigeon "speckled Jim"........

It costs more to execute someone then it does to keep them alive.

Ammi 10-04-2015 06:22 AM

..what Dezzy said really..let him live with himself/live a long life without freedom...and may each day he lives be long and miserable...

we dont need good warders guarding him, wasting food and electricity. Kill him quick and we save money.

Ninastar 15-05-2015 08:16 PM

I'm slightly half and half with the death penalty. I feel like it's the easy way out, but I also think that they are a waste of money/space/whatever... I have absolutely no sympathy for him. I don't have sympathy for people getting what they deserve. If that makes me a sick monster, then so be it.

empire 16-05-2015 12:10 AM

People who kill or plant bombs, should have no right's,

Northern Monkey 16-05-2015 12:22 AM

Generally i'm not for the death penalty but when it comes to murderous terrorists i am.A tough example needs to be made of these evil bastards. If you go soft on terrorism it will only encourage more terrorism. They need to know that if they wanna commit mass murder then they will pay the ultimate price.

Z 16-05-2015 11:45 AM

Could they not just put him in a room and set off the kind of bomb he and his brother set off at the marathon and have him live life as an amputee like so many of his victims?

Kizzy 16-05-2015 01:48 PM

That sounds a little sharia to me Z, we don't subscribe to that thankfully.

arista 16-05-2015 02:44 PM

Yes Inject him to death

No now special deals
on injection death

Nedusa 17-05-2015 07:37 AM

Oh yes the death penalty , US style... Convict a person sometimes on flaky evidence then incarcerate them for 20-25 years whilst they become fully rehabilitated and have paid for their crimes ....... Then take the person and strap him to an electric chair and push 40,000 volts through their body...

Death....Texas style

Sounds good to me Z - but only allow him to live as an amputee for a few years, say 5? Then execute the evil bastard.

PaulBrown 17-05-2015 06:03 PM

They should put him in a dark room for the rest of his life and just feed him bread + water. That would be a more severe punishment.
