Could the reveal of HM's early effect the launch rating?

I think it could as a lot people seem to just watch to see what HM are like then don't watch again, what do you think!

Jason. 07-05-2015 05:47 PM

I think it will as if the housemates are too samey and sound repulsive then people won't bother tuning in.

I think that's one of the reasons why BB15's second launch flopped in terms of ratings.

MB. 07-05-2015 05:48 PM

I think the point is to get people interested in the housemates before the launch and therefore increase the ratings. Whether that works or not, we'll just have to wait and find out.

It could work that way too.
I think it depends on the cast, TBH.

If it's a diverse cast, as promised then I don't see why it won't raise interest. Though, I'm waiting till launch, as I want to be surprised.

as long sash HM are what Rylan said then it should draw people in

andybigbro 07-05-2015 06:01 PM

I think it will. It's pointless.

The meeting the housemates is the best part of launch.

They will have to have something VERY exciting happen on launch to redeem themselves. But I t will be a rubbish twist as per usual.

Blog Rider 08-05-2015 07:36 PM

This could stop the good ratings before it starts as they see a Helen Wood type and go not again.

Cal. 08-05-2015 07:47 PM

I think the line up will feature ex-housemates and it's being revealed early to help improve launch night ratings.

This would make sense

Strictly Jake 08-05-2015 07:58 PM

I don't think it will affect it too much, the real fans will look up the housemates but will still watch the launch, whereas the casual viewer probably doesn't even know that the housemates are being revealed so will still watch the launch. I can't see it being affected all that much

armand.kay 08-05-2015 08:08 PM

I doubt the general public will even know about the housemates being revealed before.

TomC 08-05-2015 08:22 PM

I think they're doing it this year because of ex-HMs as people have said and that will increase ratings. Don't think they'll do it again though

mrmattybeck1 08-05-2015 10:44 PM

Who cares international versions have done it for years glad to see bbuk get with the times

Jason. 08-05-2015 10:51 PM

I'm bored of all this housemates re-entering talk that's taken over the forum over the past 48 hours.

I just want this **** series to start already.
I'm sick of waiting.

I know but the forums have been boring for the last few days and I want something new to talk about. Literally the top 15 threads on the BB16 forum are about ex-housemates re-entering or the housemates being revealed.

It's boring when your waiting till launch night, to find out.

Jemal 09-05-2015 01:12 PM

Well I only tune in on laucnh night to see the new HM's. This year as they are revealing them early I will most probably just tune in to the next highlight show instead.

little.lilly 09-05-2015 04:32 PM

Lets not forget that we met the HMs before the last BB on C4. They weren't even in hiding, but all out and about doing press interviews.

We had met them, but there was a large pool of them and we didn't know who was going in and who wasn't!

JohnnyBB 10-05-2015 11:34 AM

I think the housemate reveal will cull the raitings.

Will. 10-05-2015 11:35 AM

Think it won't affect them now because its a good cast by the looks of things.

Gusto Brunt 10-05-2015 12:39 PM

Let's hope the people's names released today aren't the ones going in, and that the real ones are in hiding. :D

They wouldn't bother doing something like that. Anyway I am quite excited about a few of them.

Firewire 10-05-2015 01:09 PM

Don't think it will, the only people who will look are the ones who want to watch... I don't know anyone who was planning on watching and is now not going to because of the line-up

Jason. 10-05-2015 01:17 PM

Anything lower than BB15's launch (2.3-2.4m) is deemed as failure, IMO.

Scream 10-05-2015 01:40 PM

People saying they won't tune into the launch because they've seen the housemates faces? Ooooooookay

daniel-lewis-1985 10-05-2015 08:38 PM

Yeah I love launch simply to see whos coming next its exciting but now I know every housemate it doesn't really feel like a launch.

On a side note has anyone seen BB advertised anywhere? I haven't been watching tv that much but I have watched MTV and Chanel 5 this weekend and not seen 1 advert.

Are there also no print or billboard ads?

I cant see the launch rating high I cant believe it starts in 2 days and ived seen the advert once on facebook. I didn't know it was coming back so soon and im a BB addict since series 1!!!!

Mental.

Denver 10-05-2015 08:40 PM

^^^^ I've seen loads of Ads

I haven't seen much promo either.

I mean, I saw the idents 3 times and the actual advert with Emma and Rylan, on 7th May, which was the election. But that day was when a lot of press reveal came out about BB.

The promo has been a bit naff this series, TBH. Power Trip and Secrets and Lies had much better promo.

Where are the countdowns this year?
I was looking forwards to a Timebomb style countdown with a clock, which goes off like a bomb, giving the days.

Annoyed there's not any billboard ads for BB16. There were some for CBB15.

I was looking forwards to seeing how well they'd promote BB16, as they promoted CBB15 amazingly well. But I guess this just confirms they care more about CBB than BB. Sad really.

Come August, when summer CBB will be promoted internationally across the globe, whilst BB only gets the mere eye flash.

Jamesy 10-05-2015 08:55 PM

Bizarre there have been no countdowns.

They are fools not to get at least one advert shown during a BGT ad break too.

It always baffles me how C5 never bother with advertising. They advertise more with CBB although even that lacks a lot.

I agree with the countdowns. They get me excited for launch.
Plus, it really would've fitted in well with the Timebomb theme, but that's another opportunity wasted.

CBB15's promo was like Channel 4.

Adverts and idents non-stop during the Christmas season from about 22 December - 5 January, on many different Channels, including C4.

Airing a CBB Best Bits show, on New Years. (Wish they did one for Civilian, TBH)

Billboard ads.

For BB16, it's just an advert shown on TV, every 5 days on C5.
Housemates being revealed early.
