You need to do more Home Cooking
and metal work

Liam- 02-07-2015 02:42 PM

If these people think that the male teachers will be distracted by young girls wearing skirts, then maybe said teachers shouldn't be teaching in the first place.

Even if it wasn't male teachers, surely it would be stupid also to blame the girls for the boys getting distracted? Also how heteronormative to assume every male teacher is straight lmao

the truth 02-07-2015 03:00 PM

what load of drivel aimed from the men haters...no wonder we have no men teaching kids with all the sick false accusations flying around

Ive left school now Arista, off to do BETEC Media.

oh yes I back you up on that, I'm 16 and cook for myself everyday, I never got taught really just probably learned from watching parents.

Learning how to survive would be very helpful in todays world in the case of WW3 or an apocalypse.

Don't turn this into another 'men are oppressed' thread lmao, i mean surely this is a clear example of misogyny when girls are being victimised for wearing skirts and instead of blaming the ones being 'distracted', it's the girls who are told it is their fault. This is not from 'man-haters' at all, surely the opposite. Your claim of having little-to-no male teachers is also ridiculous. At my school, it is pretty much 50/50.. 60/40 at worst.

It's complete hypocrisy really. Some guys at my school even took their shirts off, and they didn't even get told off (for a while at least) whereas girls will get told off massively even if their skirt is only centimetres above the knee.

Kizzy 02-07-2015 03:34 PM

How embarrassing that this trousers only policy has come in as it is seen as not only a uniform issue but a safeguarding one.. it must make the male teachers there feel like predators :/
It is a good idea but to use that excuse is a tad OTT.

Yeah, they didn't even need to give a reason for the change, just that it was a uniform change and that's it. I'd imagine most girls would rather wear trousers anyway. When I was in school the girls had to wear skirts and it used to drive me crazy, I never wore skirts other than my uniform and I hated it especially in winter. In my daughters school (which is mixed) the girls have a choice between the two and I'd say 90% of the girls wear trousers

utter drivel ....men make up less than 10% of primary school teaches and less than 5% of infants.....therefore they have no male role models especially as 50% of homes end up fatherless and the women keep the houses and the kids and half their ex partners income....it IS ALL relevant and the whole picture needs to be looked at. women make these decisions about the skirts and everything else because they consider ALL men potential rapists.

So, what was the point of the example if skirts are to be banned next term anyway?
It's a ridiculous reason, the girls and the teachers must be mortified there's been this spin put on the rule change.

Josy 03-07-2015 01:03 PM

:/

If the male teachers are being distracted by underage girls in skirts then they should NOT be male teachers in the first place.

A bit off topic but when we were at school we had a really strict uniform policy and the girls had to wear a skirt no matter what, no trouser whatsoever, in the cold weather I used to wear black leggins under mines (it was really freezing) and every day without fail they would haul me to the front office and call my mum, and every time she would reply 'I know it's breaking the uniform policy but I told her to do it, my daughter isn't going to freeze all day because of your silly rules'

haha that sounds like me, I used to wear black jeans when the weather was bad and I got in trouble everytime but it used to piss me off so much how we had to wear skirts but the boys could wear trousers. thankfully pretty much all schools here now give girls a choice between wearing a skirt or trousers

Yeah the school I went to ended up changing their uniform policy (typically after I left) and the girls can now wear grey trousers.

We were only ever allowed to wear grey skirts or the summer dresses.

I went to England's oldest Catholic school (St Edmunds College) there was a teacher who had relationships with girls the year I joined (2012) it was all in the news (Daily Mail, Mirror, etc.)

He got arrested!

All our male teachers are so sexiest, there so nice to girls, give them drinks etc.

Some of the teachers are now going out with students that have left!!!!!

Daily Mirror Article"REXParents freaked out when they were told that their children were missing from schoolWrithing: A teacher was banned from classrooms after found kissing a teenage on the floor

A teacher caught kissing a pupil and fondling her breast through her clothing has been banned from the classroom for life.

James Mullen, 25, who was a part-time history teacher and boarding tutor, was spotted writhing on the floor of the music room with the 16-year-old girl.

The member of staff who saw the antics reported him to the head teacher at the school, where he had only been recruited as a £24,000-a-year teacher five months earlier.

The pair had kissed on Valentine's Day last year, a professional conduct panel was told.

They had then embarked upon a close relationship which was finally exposed when they kissed on the floor 12 days later on February 26.

Mr Mullen, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, had previously been warned by other teachers about his behaviour with pupils at St Edmund's College, an independent school in Ware, Herts.

He had been seen sharing pizzas with pupils and watching DVDs with them on school premises.

His relationship led him to be convicted at St Albans Crown Court in July last year of three charges of sexual activity with a child aged between 13 and 17 while in a position of trust.

He was sent to prison for eight months, the panel, run by the National College for Teaching and Leadership, was told.

Panel chairman Luke Graham said: "There is a strong public interest consideration in respect of the protection of pupils given the seriousness of the actions which led to three convictions of sexual activity - that is, kissing and touching a pupil aged between 13 and 17 years of age.

"The panel considers that public confidence in the profession could be significantly weakened if conduct such as that found against Mr Mullen were not treated with the utmost seriousness when regulating the conduct of the profession.

"Mr Mullen's conduct was far removed from what could be reasonably accepted from a teacher."

The hearing was told, although he had only been teaching for five months, he had received child protection training and knew of the school's safeguarding procedures.

Paul Heathcote, acting on behalf of Education Secretary Nicky Morgan, said the teacher should be banned from the profession indefinitely.

Mr Mullen was given 28 days in which to appeal against the decision at the High Court."

Ammi 06-07-2015 05:56 AM

...I agree that schools are not a place of 'fashion'/trend etc, which puts too much pressure and focus on students to 'look cool' which is distracting for them as well but it would be nice to think that the same 1inch above the knee policy also applied for shorts/guys...I couldn't see their full uniform policy online though...

billy123 06-07-2015 06:57 AM

That Headteacher needs sacking for saying that. If i was a male teacher in her School i would have her head on a platter for even suggesting that i would be absolutely livid.
I agree completely with the fact that they have to enforce that the students dress respectfully but the reasoning she has claimed there is disgraceful and disrespectful beyond belief.
