There are 46 states in the USA. The other 4 aren't actually states.

you're thinking of a deck of cards... all though even a deck of cards is 50 minus the jokers...

what does wikipedia say? since when are there not 50 states? that is annoying as hell.

:) They're only referred to as states so they don't have to name the country "the United States and 4 Commonwealth of America"

i'm from virginia and i know we call ourselves a commonwealth but we are still a state. states get 2 senators each, and virginia gets 2 senators, that is some annoying techinicality bull****. if that was like a game show question and they pulled that on you, you could totally take it to court and win.
