Do Infractions make you change your posts?

For me they simply don't. If anything they make me more un PC. Your thoughts?

Denver 24-10-2015 09:49 PM

I love infractions

Kate! 24-10-2015 09:49 PM

I try not to offend again in the same way but its hard not to say stuff sometimes

Do you feel like they have misunderstood your comment? I get that all the time.

Johnnyuk123 24-10-2015 09:52 PM

It's strange when you post a joke comment to then be told it's litterally offensive then banned which is the last thing you actually intended.

Ashley. 24-10-2015 09:52 PM

I usually edit or delete posts that I think could get me into trouble. I'm not very good at thinking before I say things.

Johnnyuk123 24-10-2015 09:55 PM

During an infraction period i tend to watch movies and chat on other forums to many people from here so the infraction period is redundant in my case for the most part.

Kate! 24-10-2015 09:55 PM

Ive said stuff as jokes but been given warnings instead of actual infractions

Freedom of speech and all that is not welcomed in some instances so i understand what you are saying.:wavey:

smudgie 24-10-2015 10:00 PM

Never had an infraction.

Never felt the need to offend either.

TBH I love the moderators in here. On the whole they do a great job but I would love them even more if they revealed themselves whilst applying an infraction. You just get a message saying whatever you said this and that your now banned by no name. But alas we are not privy to that information yet.

Infractions and bans are handed out due to forum rule breaks if they aren't changing you're behaviour then they will get harsher and lead to longer or indefinite bans. It's not difficult to take part in a forum without breaking rules.

Denver 24-10-2015 10:18 PM

^^ This is why I'm glad I've never been infracted

I've mentioned this a few times but freedom of speech is not absolute and does not give you an excuse to break the rules of the forum.

Yes, this is why we had plug :fan:

(joking)

Amy Jade 24-10-2015 10:22 PM

I tend to just carry on the same, I believe most of my infractions are either me slightly over stepping the line but not in a nasty way, usually it's sarcasm or just another forum member being a bit prissy - so I refrain from reading their posts for a bit lol

LemonJam 24-10-2015 10:33 PM

I mean I don't think it's that hard not to be an arsehole to people so I don't ever have to change my posts.

However, one of my entire two infractions over my seven years being on here (7 years sweet Jesus :joker:) was for breaking the swear filter and honestly I still do that from time to time :hehe:

Jamie89 24-10-2015 11:11 PM

Are infractions the same as bans? Or are they warnings? And how do you know if you've had one, do you get a pm?

Infractions come with points that build up and lead to bans, the more points you accrue the longer the bans get, warnings don't have points and can't lead to a ban.

And yes you receive a pm from TiBB Staff telling you what post has been warned/infracted and the reason.

Dollface 24-10-2015 11:17 PM

not really tbh

Marsh. 25-10-2015 01:10 AM

No. :)

Mokka 25-10-2015 03:40 AM

I don't get infractions :smug:

But knowing the forum rules, and knowing that even though I say something in jest... It could be taken the wrong way... I usually self edit.

I often find myself going to post something, and even typing it out, but then rethinking it and deleting it before I even hit send.

..why though..?..why would it be relevant to know that, if an infraction/ban etc is given then it would be in the admin section as to the reason so if it was thought to be unfair etc or something said which was misunderstood, then it could be discussed with any moderator/admin member ....knowing who actually gave it would just seem to me to be 'making it personal' when it's not a personal thing...

This. Or I usually have to explain myself in small text afterwards so the moderators know that I am joking.

I am doing this increasingly now Mokka - especially on Serious Debates.

It can be when mods hand out infractions for things that aren't even against the rules

This also... Just things that they have been personally insulted by.

Well tbf it's impossible for the rules to list every rule break scenario possible (especially on here) so we do use our own initiative at times and I know this has been mentioned lots but every infraction has it's own discussion thread and we do post if we agree/disagree with certain infractions then reverse infractions or bans we don't feel were justified, we do make mistakes at times, and they are normally corrected once realised.

Yes well personal insults are against the forum rules Ashley however mods rarely give infractions for things they are personally insulted by unless it's a clear rule break, in fact I've seen mods actually go into the admin section and ask someone else to deal with things if 1. they are taking part in the debate where the rule break is and 2. they don't like infracting for things personally said to them and prefer instead to delete the post (I delete things said about me without infracting unless it's extreme)

Where is this 'Infraction discussion thread' Josy? Have we got access to it?

No Kirk, every time an infraction is given out a thread specifically for that infraction (or warning) is automatically created in a part of the admin forum.

It's were the mods and admins discuss things.

We did used to have a private infraction appeals section where only the member in question and the mods could see the thread you made querying an infraction but it was ruined.
