BB using David Bowie's death in this way...

Does anyone else find this seriously distasteful?

I don't know why I expected anything else, but I can honestly imagine the producers rubbing their hands together at the news this morning and thinking of the publicity the show will pick up off the back of it as people tune in to see how the ex wife copes :S

I said in the chat thread, it wouldn't surprise me if they offered her more money to stay.

Shaun 11-01-2016 09:02 PM

I'm not surprised.

Xtopher 11-01-2016 09:03 PM

Anything for ratings... very distasteful.

Cherie 11-01-2016 09:03 PM

Awful but wouldn't Angie have agreed to air it :suspect:

Jordan. 11-01-2016 09:03 PM

The promo for tomorrows show was gross

EspeonBB 11-01-2016 09:03 PM

Complete agree. It's completely shameless and tacky of them to use a woman mourning her ex-husband to promo their show. I would have thought Angie would want those moments to be kept private and not be broadcast all over the nation :umm2:

The producers have always been shameless though. Putting in a known homophobe for controversy/buzz and just last series they showed Janice having a fit in the diary room on camera

zakman440 11-01-2016 09:04 PM

In very bad taste, but I wouldn't expect anything less from the current crop of producers.

Headie 11-01-2016 09:04 PM

That's the most distasteful thing Channel 5 have ever aired imo. Especially after they said they wouldn't film it.

Niamh. 11-01-2016 09:04 PM

I thought they were telling her in private? Gross

I 100% agree with everything you have said Vicky.

So did I, so much for respect.

MB. 11-01-2016 09:05 PM

I'm fairly sure that's just afterwards (she was told off-camera by her representatives), but it's still beyond tacky to advertise tomorrow's show with the clip

jaxie 11-01-2016 09:06 PM

I thought it was a distasteful promo but her reaction in the diary room was very genuine and very human. Very sad.

The worst thing sometimes is that when someone dies, and there has been bad feeling, you realise that there will never the chance to say we had a good time didn't we and I'm sorry.

Daniel-X 11-01-2016 09:07 PM

It was in bad taste for sure. They're just grabbing as many viewers as they can but it's wrong on every level.

nonstop 11-01-2016 09:07 PM

It's Channel 5, I'm mean what did you think they were going to do?

smudgie 11-01-2016 09:07 PM

Disgusting.
They have seriously crossed the lines of human decency.

GiRTh 11-01-2016 09:08 PM

Channel 5 will forever be sucking on the sump pump of sensationalism. Very tacky to promo the show with Angie mourning her ex husband.

It's disgraceful Vicky, they could at least have kept it private for now,i didn't think they could sink much lower, they just did.

Pete. 11-01-2016 09:09 PM

Honestly I expected it (they could get into trouble if Angie did not give permission)

Josy 11-01-2016 09:09 PM

Yes its bad taste.

I'm thinking they must have asked Angie if it was alright to air the scenes of her being told though.

Kazanne 11-01-2016 09:10 PM

I would stop watching in protest, but I can't I am far too nosey.

Jack_ 11-01-2016 09:11 PM

I'm yet to watch the episode but they seriously created a one-off 'tomorrow' teaser to promote scenes involving a woman who has just recently been informed of the death of her ex husband? :umm2:

A new low.

I agree

Beso 11-01-2016 09:13 PM

the news has been showing people mourning all day. for me it looks heartfelt and fitting.

BB4fan 11-01-2016 09:14 PM

Not really shocking as it was to be expected.

Yes I think its the final realisation that it cant be changed thats difficult to take.
I hope that she is able to reconcile with her son.

wendywillow 11-01-2016 09:48 PM

I missed the promo....they aired them telling her or her reaction afterwards?

I certainly hope so.
Angie being told should be a very private moment without the eyes of the nation gaping at her.
I don't like the thought of her giving permission to screen it either, but it's preferable to them doing it without asking her.

Jarvio 11-01-2016 10:11 PM

Can we have Bowie added to the title? To not confuse with David the HM

Braden 11-01-2016 10:20 PM

So ****ing tacky.

The whole point of BB is showing footage 24 hours a day. Besides, Janice's fit was overly dramatic anyways.

Visage 11-01-2016 11:07 PM

I kinda expected it and if the news channel was anywhere near Angie's home they would be filming her coming out of the house. That doesn't make it right but it's the world of media and paparazzi we live in.

Bowie touched so many people's life's his death will no doubt-ably attract more people to tuning into the news programs to see how other people have reacted.

Death has a morbid curiosity about it that draws people in.

It's awful, but I am curious with how Angie reacts to this news tomorrow and the rest of the housemates for that matter.

I hope Angie talks about the positives from her relationship with David.

Brother Leon 11-01-2016 11:56 PM

She obviously gave them permission to air it. They would hardly have decided to do so themselves. Don't see the issue.

Calderyon 11-01-2016 11:59 PM

Maybe they had inside information about DBīs condition and thatīs why they cast Angie in the house.

They might have had this planned all along.
