zakman440 15-02-2016 09:39 PM

She grew up not far from where I live - I do hope that she's okay. I can't begin to imagine what the family is currently going through :(.

DemolitionRed 15-02-2016 09:51 PM

The family of missing doctor Rose Polge say they have been "overwhelmed" by the support of her friends and colleagues, as the search for the 25-year-old continues.

Police divers are among those trying to find Dr Polge, who works at Torbay Hospital in Torquay.

She was last seen on Friday, 12 February. Her car was found in a car park near Anstey's Cove, near Torquay at 6pm that day.

Her family said in a statement released by police: "We would like to thank everyone for their help, hope and kind words.

"The support we have received from family and friends has been much appreciated, and clearly Rose is loved far and wide.

"We are overwhelmed by the support from her friends and colleagues, dozens of whom have been combing the Devon Coast in search of Rose.

"As the search continues we would appreciate some privacy from the press in our time of distress."

The doctor is understood to have left a message for a loved one that is believed to have mentioned Jeremy Hunt.

The note is not believed to have been addressed to the Health Secretary directly.

Devon and Cornwall Police, which is investigating the disappearance, will not confirm or deny this.

It is understood that a hoodie found on the beach on Sunday night has been identified as belonging to Dr Polge.

Police officers, the coastguard, RNLI and Dartmoor search and rescue are also involved in the hunt for the 25-year-old.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "Due to the volume of information we are receiving from the public, a new dedicated log has been set up solely for public information on the missing person Rose Polge.

"If you have seen Rose or have any information that could help police with their inquiries, please call 101 quoting log 704 for the 15th February."

Dr Polge is described as 5ft 2ins tall with brown eyes and long black hair either worn down or in a pony tail.

Police have previously said they were "extremely concerned" for her welfare.

A Department of Health spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with Dr Polge's family and friends at an extremely difficult time."

..just unimaginable for her family...

DemolitionRed 16-02-2016 02:57 PM

Rose had been involved in the protests and is believed to have walked out 'stressed' in the middle of her hospital shift on the day she went missing. This is looking more and more like a suicide.

Ammi 16-02-2016 03:00 PM

...I would sadly say very likely suicide as she left a note for a close family member...

...yeah I know, 'to have it all', type thing but we don't know anything of her life atm or any possible ill mental health, just so, so sad and will be awful for her family to feel the helplessness if it is suicide...

Yes but was that not by text? I haven't found anything that says it was a hand written note.

Her family have said that although she was tired from her shifts and annoyed with Hunts new contract, she was a happy bubbly person. A doctor knows the easy way out and has access to the right sort of medicines. I think they are going to find Rose in the water (I hope not) which if it is a suicide, would be a horribly unpredictable way to go.

I can't look at her picture without getting a chill...geez, I can't even type her name without the hair standing up on the back of my neck.

Poor Rose.

It would be a bit of a stretch to pin this on Hunt if the poor girl did take her life

..I'm not entirely sure tbh, the article I just posted described 'message' and then in the next paragraph, referred to 'note', so it's just something that we're going to have to wait for more information...I don't think that there is ever a predictable with a confused or unhealthy mind though...and if it is suicide, her pain would have blocked all reasoning and thought processing...

I wondered if it was anything to do with the fact she was a junior dr yesterday, but just couldn't bring myself to say it :(

..possibly Jax but I don't think it's as simplistic as that/although from a personal experience of mine of someone who took their own life..(and those are the only things really we can draw on for our thoughts for these things/personal experiences etc..)...I do see a very worrying connection.../I don't really want to post my thoughts atm, with the small about of details we have and not knowing the full slant of the media either...

kirklancaster 17-02-2016 07:48 AM

She is a beautiful young woman, and in the photo is glowing with vitality and happiness, and it is a genuine tragedy if she is dead - more so if it is by her own hands.

I cannot help but say though, that IF it is suicide, and IF she has named the idiot Hunt and his policies as THE reason, then in my opinion, she MUST have been suffering from some type of psychological problems, becaused no normal person would even contemplate suicide over this, no matter how angry or depressed one may get as a result.

I still pray that for her sake and her family and friends, that she is found alive and well.

joeysteele 17-02-2016 07:56 AM

She hasn't been declared thought dead yet so in spite of the almost clear signs that may be the case let's hope for a positive end here.

However, things look bad especially as to the letter/note.
As to any reference to Jeremy Hunt, well no way can he be blamed ad I would guess the reference to him in that letter/note would be for sure negative towards him.
Often it can be the oddest and even smallest of things that pushes someone over that final edge if they already are under intense pressures in either or both of their personal and /or professional lives.

Let's wait and see what is the outcome of this disappearance however and like Kirk, I will too hope for a positive outcome.

Killing yourself to try and make a point to a politician who is so far removed from your profession that he's never going to 'get' it is the ultimate foolish decision and I hope that she's found alive, and that if not, she didn't throw her life away because of his stupid policy... policies can be overturned, there's strike action, there are a raft of options available to gifted young minds like junior doctors to force change... killing yourself is not one of them. :/

UserSince2005 17-02-2016 01:16 PM

Poor girl, clearly suffered from mental issues, she had everything including a great job. Some people just can't see how lucky they are.

So many junior doctors with no grip on reality.

..it's probably not making a point Z...do you recall the person I knew who committed suicide..?..there were very specific noted from her also/very specific 'blame' in those moments, in that mind of chaos/confusion...because an unhealthy mind can 'fixate' on something/a real thing that they feel responsible for their unhappiness/stress...'their hate', if you like...because of a mind that needs help and lots of things can build and build on the stress, can take the mind into not being able to take another layer...if there is a way to connect...(imo..)..it's that the mental health system and care atm is failing many people who really need it.../but even then, I don't know if that's the case here, if anything could have been detected, because it isn't always...

Define 'reality'.

She has been described as 'stressed' and 'exhausted' ...That's the reality.

:clap1:Well said Kirk,no way can anyone be blamed if this girl has done away with herself, she must have had many other issues too,the note could merely be a smokescreen for something much deeper, poor girl, hope she is found ok.

Of course, if she's killed herself like this and over this in particular, that's not a healthy mind making a rational choice... just so sad :(

Kizzy 18-02-2016 10:15 AM

And the guy who set himself on fire and died outside Kensington palace? A nurse sacked for whistleblowing.

'He told the Press Association Mr Abdullah had an “exemplary background” - even winning an award for excellence when he graduated from Buckinghamshire New University.

“I want to get the message out there about the way that the whole thing was terribly handled - it was badly handled because of a bad culture that they have. It just seems to be that if anyone steps out of line they are literally just crushed into the ground,” he said.

“They treated him disgustingly - it pushed him into the depression and got us in the position we are in today.”

It is understood Mr Abdullah was one of 17 people to sign a petition in support of a colleague after a patient complained.'

I'm glad they have found her. Her parents can at least now bury her.
