Seeing as we are on UK soil here on TiBB, I thought a Canadian shelter was appropriate

This is a thread for:

-all Canadian visitors to check in and announce themselves ( if they choose)
-Canadianism to be explained and debunked as they appear on the show
-General conversations about Canada to organically happen as the series progresses

All are welcome in Canada... we have gone International !!!!

really only East-coasters say it... a very small select region of Canada... like where Jillian is from.

The rest of us say it properly :smug: as in out and about

Mokka 25-02-2016 07:06 PM

interesting enough... the dialect of the East coast's real origins are from Ireland and Scotland... so you can basically create a logic statement resulting in LT being at fault for oot and aboot :hmph:

Marsh. 25-02-2016 07:26 PM

Not foreigners. :worry:

Mokka 25-02-2016 08:33 PM

some fresh information to distance the nay sayers...

What do you all call your milk??

Well if in the BB Canada house someone asks for the Homo Milk... they are not calling Milk Gay... no no... cause Homo is what we call 3.25% Fat milk in Canada

so stop thinking Homo is an insult already and embrace it as a total neutral term for a nice creamy beverage :hehe:

Marsh. 25-02-2016 08:33 PM

I'd love a nice creamy homo.

Marsh. 25-02-2016 08:34 PM

I mean beverage.

Not sure specifically what you are asking LT, but I did a bit of Canadian history reading for myself a few years back… and really it all comes down to the fact that Canada is a vast territory and was settled in parts by differing nations… France established fur trading here in the 1500s and began colonizing their territory at the very onset of the 1600s. They gained prime trade territory at the base of the St. Lawrence River where Quebec city lies today. Their claim to the land was due to being superior, and their superiority came from being from a Christian nation of course. They supplied the natives with weaponry to fight tribal wars for territory they eventually took from them. They set up missions, and parceled out the land to their own country men. The Metis culture is a result of their intermarriages with the Algonquians and remains today all across Canada. But really, the answer to your question is… because of the English. In 1629 England, under King Charles I, took Quebec from France and shut them out of the Fur trade for three years. It is because King Charles negotiated it’s return that the French were allowed back in to set up their missions and populate with the native tribes… So blame England tbh

Canadian here. Checking in. 😊

Mokka 04-03-2016 07:25 PM

Last nights show featured a conversation where Kelsey said Dallas's beard was "like a Poutine"... what is a Poutine you might ask??

Poutine (/puːˈtiːn/; Quebec French: [put͡sɪn] ( listen)) is a Canadian dish, originating in the province of Quebec, made with french fries and cheese curds topped with a light brown gravy

Originating in Canada and unique to Canada... it's a dish best found and served in Quebec imo... the Western part of Canada does not to the dish well :nono:
