It's on the ground now, so that's at least something

Ammi 29-03-2016 06:38 AM

..let's hope that they get everyone off safely, without any loss of life...

arista 29-03-2016 06:57 AM

Now saying a Bomb on board
Strapped on

Ammi 29-03-2016 07:00 AM

..that's my worry, that the intention is to blow up the plane in full media coverage, rather than in mid-air..I hope that isn't the case, those poor, terrified people on board and the families and loved ones as well...

A deal breaker
they all die if Egypt does not release who they demand from their prisons

Just like the old days

Cyprus perfect place for these Terrorists

arista 29-03-2016 07:12 AM

They got on with Guns?

How the hell did they let them do that?

Dodgy security, lax procedures, they learned nothing from the Russian plane or didn't want to learn, at least some passengers were let off which gives some hope, if tourism wasn't dead before, it's sunk now

Yes I think
Total Corrupt Staff at the Airport in Egypt

[The A320 airliner took off from Alexandria at 8am.]

arista 29-03-2016 07:21 AM

8 Britons on Board
10 Americans

AnnieK 29-03-2016 07:22 AM

Absolutely terrifying for all concerned...

They will have to release the selected people
from the Egypt Prisons.

If the Do not all could Die

bots 29-03-2016 07:29 AM

It will just be like the old days. Need to be prepared for the plane being stormed by Special forces (plenty UK forces there) or the plane being blown up.

Larnaca is a good airport, and they are well prepared.

..yeah, reports from Cyprus are saying that there are 15/20 people left on board but no mention of any demands as yet...

arista 29-03-2016 07:36 AM

Its gets Worse
the ones left could be UK and USA

They are saying one Hijacker

Only non Egyptians left on board with the crew now

Ninastar 29-03-2016 07:59 AM

This won't end well, unfortunately  these terrorists truly are cowards to threaten the lives of innocent people.

arista 29-03-2016 08:12 AM

Not so band now he just wants Asylum

If it were ISIS no one would have got off that plane, security at Egyptian airports cannot be trusted now

Ammi 29-03-2016 08:53 AM

...some reports are saying that there are now only four hostages left on-board, but I don't know how reliable the sources are...the Telegraph has said that one of the things he asked for was that a letter be sent to his ex wife, so this doesn't sound like a terrorist group thing, more someone acting alone...

DemolitionRed 29-03-2016 08:58 AM

Its reported that his wife is now on her way to the airport.

Is there really a suicide vest or is he bluffing?

Kizzy 29-03-2016 09:02 AM

News agencies and other reports are naming the hijacker as Ibrahim Abdel Tawwab Samaha, a professor of veterinary medicine at Alexandria university.

It's suggesting he's 27 which seems a bit young for that position and the photo of the guy looks a lo older.

andybigbro 29-03-2016 09:06 AM

Why are the people who were released just casually walking off as if it's normal? With one woman just standing at the top?
Surely they should be running off as quick as they can and be shaken up :conf2:

It's really odd.

Ammi 29-03-2016 09:09 AM

Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades said the incident was not terror related.

He added: "We are doing our utmost in order for everyone to be released and safe and to give an end to this unprecedented incident."

On the one hand it's great it's not terror related, on the other it's worrying how apparently easy it was for this guy working presumably on his own to take control of a plane

Niamh. 29-03-2016 09:30 AM

How on Earth did they get on board with a bomb/guns?

Kizzy 29-03-2016 09:33 AM

He may not have, would you want to tackle him to find out? :/

He..a lone person by the looks of things, he might be bluffing which has all sorts of implications for travel :umm2: and if he does have a gun/bomb the staff at the airport he travelled out of should be sacked :idc:

Samm 29-03-2016 09:35 AM

It's apparently just domestic and not terrorism

He wants to speak to his ex wife :umm2: But even if he is bluffing and it now appears that he is, how easy was it for him to take control with no weapons

arista 29-03-2016 09:40 AM

Well this is the thing, people are terrified because of all the ISIS stuff going on so it's instantly assumed that it's them I guess :/

Internal Egyptian flight I think flying from Alexandria to Cairo

smudgie 29-03-2016 09:44 AM

Idiot.
Hopefully he get a good long jail sentence.
Incidents like this make you realise why they come down hard on hoaxers who think it is ok to joke about having a bomb etc.

Livia 29-03-2016 10:02 AM

Lucky for him he wasn't on an El-Al flight. He'd be dead now.
