The subject of some very lazy stereotypes
He would be in prison if he wasn't on BB
We will see him ion crime watch soon Thick, uneducated Probaby did some shoddy work in the past on someone drive His Dad's a Mr Big in the travelling world There are probably loads more but these are off the top of my head, at least try to trot out something factual about him, rather than clinging on to outdated stereotypes :joker: |

Perhaps we could call him Mr Nose-picker or Mr Chews-Like-Washing Machine :hehe: |
nasty.

i'm in agreement here about the stereotyping that has, in some instances, flirted heavily with downright bigotry.
hughie has shown some aspects of his character i liked, but overall far more i didn't. no need for the profiling he's received. |

so don't try and make out that I did please :) Borg = 1 mind (collective its a trekkie thing) meaning we do not all think alike by what we see PS 'Perhaps we could call him Mr Nose-picker or Mr Chews-Like-Washing Machine' he did that in house so I will comment thanks :D |

You can call him all the names you like based on what you see in the house I never said otherwise |

I like Hughie, he and Jason have both been my favourites through most of the show. There is something slightly innocent about him which is endearing and even when he loses his rag it's hard to dislike him. Who will ever forget the words trouble raising bitch! I think his accent is adorable. Where I think he sometimes lets himself down is that he is inclined to get a bee in his bonnet sometimes when it isn't really neccessary or justified, and he won't let things go, like a dog with a bone!
Stereotyping is a form of prejudice and unfortunately there will always be those who do not allow themselves to see beyond bias they have for where someone comes from and what their background is. This is their loss and seriously limits their view of the world. |

He is one of the better HM's this year & seems genuinely nice.
I just don't know what he saw in Ryan......... |
His background is irrelevant to me...it was irrelevant when I liked him and it is now I don't so much. I actually think he's more intelligent than Ryan, Lateysha, Sam and Evelyn but he's really immature. But even that isn't the reason I've gone off him, I liked Marco and he was more immature than any of em.
I switched my view of Hughie when he humiliated and persecuted Andy in front of everyone and then isolated him to do it again and again. In his eyes I saw the pleasure he was getting from being so intimidating and mean. He showed a different side that day and now i see it in many situations he has with people. |

My other friend, Spock, said he found TIBB "Fascinating". And so it is, because, we are NOT all Borgs. |
Even when Hughie looses his rsg I've never heard him make s physical threat or seen him get up into anyone's face or lunged st someone. Yet for some reason it's been suggested that he's a danger to housemates

That video isn't even the slightest bit threatening. There's so reason at all for people to be holding him back.

would have been rude of me not to reply :) |
I have not had a go at Hughie, or made any comment about his traveller background etc, but I just cannot believe that ANYONE can have watched him in the BB House these past few weeks AND viewed that video, then disputed the view on here that he is unstable, aggressive AND threatening.
It is Hughie who is aggressive. It is Hughie who is shouting. It is Hughie who is poking his finger towards the person he his shouting at. It is Hughie who is aggressively advancing into the personal space AND face of the person he is shouting at. It is Hughie whose face is both flushed with anger AND maniacally contorted with the same. In my book, that evidence convinces me too, that he is unstable, aggressive, and so volatile that he represents a potential physical danger to whoever happens to be the target of his rage. Had it been me he was confronting in such a manner, I would have been on the balls of my feet with my fists clenched READY to defend any attack from him. Sorry. |

You don't need to be sorry Kirk as I have said people are free to judge him on his actions in the house as they see fit, however none of the examples in the OP are based on anything other than bigotry and ignorance and jokey comments which if they were levied at many other communities would have the forum in uproar Quote:
As I have already said on this thread I have no problem with your opinion on him in the house |

It surprises me that fans of BB would be so quick to judge someone based on stereotypes. Surely one of the main reasons for enjoying a show like this is that you get to know what someone is really like over weeks of viewing them, and you get to see that more often than not, lazy cultural stereotypes are just that, and the individual person is usually pretty different. One of the best things about BB is it's ability to highlight that imo. I haven't actually seen many of the examples of him being stereotyped to be honest though, so I'm just speaking generally. |
