Are you afraid of needles?

.

I'm use to them since I have blood tests every 3-6 months a year and I don't think it hurts at all it feels like a cat scratch which is nothing

Vanessa 06-09-2016 07:16 PM

Yes! I need a blood test tomorrow and i'm terrified! :bawling::dog:

Crimson Dynamo 06-09-2016 07:29 PM

not in my mouth in the slightest but i cant look elsewhere

:worry:

Shaun 06-09-2016 07:31 PM

No not really.

Sharon, on the other hand...

Niamh. 06-09-2016 07:47 PM

Not really although I'm less ok with them since I had a bad blood test experience a few years ago

Kyle 06-09-2016 08:02 PM

Depends where they stick it.

No, but they do make me nervous sometimes a little given my horrific experience in october where a ****ing consultant (cant even excuse it as a trainee) jabbed my arm at least 50 times trying to get a line in for morphine...no pressure applied after or anything. I swear my arm was like a swollen painful brick for a month. He threatened he would put it in my neck if my arms didn't cooperate soon (as if it was my fault he has broken all my damn veins!) then got someone else to try and they did it first time. Faily bastard.

kirklancaster 06-09-2016 08:18 PM

No - But I'm terrified of Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde. :hee:
Spoiler:

The Needles, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde are all on the Isle of Wight.

user104658 06-09-2016 09:53 PM

Generally no - but I had a pretty horrendous experience having one of my toenails removed. Local anaesthetic needle stabbed into tendon... horrendous. It also refused to take properly but I was so done with her poking needles into my foot, that I just said it was totally numb and let her rip the nail off without full anaesthetic :umm2:.

But for taking bloods / donating blood /etc. I have no issue with needles.

joeysteele 06-09-2016 10:11 PM

Not at all, I am a blood donor anyway so well used to needles.

In fact I would rather have injections than pills or medicines.

Calderyon 06-09-2016 10:30 PM

Used to, but not anymore.

They were much larger, longer and hurt a lot more before (even days after the shot). Nowadays they barely sting.

Denver 06-09-2016 10:37 PM

na stick um in me veins daily

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 06-09-2016 10:39 PM

The idea of needles is scarier than needles themselves

Was just looking through old photos and discovered these like hours after posting on this thread about it. This is what I looked like after the consultant butchered my arm with his ****ing needle. These were taken 4 days later..they were actually much worse.

_Tom_ 07-09-2016 05:19 AM

One of my biggest fears. I faint at even the mention of blood or needles. :(

Josy 07-09-2016 11:29 AM

I'm a fainter when it comes to needles. Can't look at the point either it makes me feel queasy

LukeB 07-09-2016 11:30 AM

I always watch it going in idk why i do it but i have to watch it go in

Vanessa 07-09-2016 11:43 AM

It hurt :bawling:, but it wasn't as bad as I feared

I like tattoos and piercings too much to be scared of them.

LaLaLand 07-09-2016 02:15 PM

No. Used to be when I was a kid like I think everyone is but got over it after I realised it's just a quick "pinch".

I've also had my lip, eyebrow, tongue and numerous places on my ears pierced with needles since AND I'm covered in tattoos so yeah I'm okay with them ha

I was the same until I had an incident compounded by incompetent staff. I had to give a lot but I'm guessing my BP was too low because I almost went into shock. I wasn't particularly nervous. I just got very hot and it felt like my internals were frying and like I was struggling and I just started panting?? The guy actually left the room I guess because he had an oh **** moment but husband went into work medic mode and helped me get breathing again. Freaked him out because it's he deals with at work dealing with some of the addicts who come into his unit to dry out/"recover"

I changed labs and I'm going to one that is much better staffed now and I haven't had a problem since. Though I'm prone to lowish BP so maybe I need to get a wrist monitor for the car to check before getting drawn. I'm more anxious now than I used to because of it but last time I went though went perfect, I wasn't stressed at all.

Otherwise I've never liked needles, but I've learned to deal with them.
