Can be physical or mentally

smudgie 08-09-2016 06:33 PM

Physically when my gallbladder perforated, blocked my bile duct and gave me blood poisoning.
Emotionally when we thought we were going to lose our daughter when she was 7 years old.

aww :(

Mentally, finding out my best friend had committed suicide, physically either child birth or this time I had a trapped nerve in my neck

Jessica. 08-09-2016 06:51 PM

The moment I felt the most physical pain was at the same time I felt the most emotional pain, my heart was breaking, everything hurt, I felt like I was dying.

2nded ... kicking and screaming would be a massive understatement... had to wait for the pain to go down enough before I could even stand up to get into the car and head to the hospital... add bladder spasms into the mix from scarring I have as it was passing and I ended up in the ER again. The stone was 4-5mm picked up by CT and took 4-5 weeks to pass... The first trip was $16,000 trip in the US without ins (thankfully I was insured). That day still feels like Christmas. I was so glad I didn't need to have the lithotripsy. There's always the possibility they can "miss" with the laser and cause more problems.

I had a pommel horse rolled over my foot in school before and it ripped off a big portion of my big toe nail, I've never felt so much pain or saw so much blood in my life.

Jessica. 08-09-2016 08:05 PM

Kidney infections are quite painful tbh, definitely in my top five

Mental: Bereavement.
Physical: Car crash/broken femur. It didn't tickle.

mizzy25 08-09-2016 08:38 PM

when I 1st got crohns disease, excruciating pain. 8 60mg codeine phosphate and as many paracetomols as possible didn't take the pain away. I rang emergency dr once and had to get my mam to travel 5 miles to my house, so she cud answer the door, the pain was so bad.

emotionally when my mam died.

Idk what mines would be. Like, I was only young when my Mum and grandparents died so I can't really remember exactly how I felt, but I guess growing up without a proper mother figure would be one.

Physically, i've been pretty lucky as i've never hurt myself too badly or broken any bones :hee:

Will. 08-09-2016 09:16 PM

Deep throat.

iRyan 08-09-2016 09:22 PM

I had appendicitis when I was 12. Horrible vomiting and pain that led to surgery and kept me bedridden for two weeks.

Physical pain was when one of my back teeth was aching. It had been filled before but that had fell out and honestly the pain was unbearable.

Like I know any toothache is painful but my God.

The nerve was exposed it was awful. I couldn't lie down or it would start so I had no sleep for weeks, it hurt in my jaw, neck, cheek, eye, head and shoulder, my eyes would just stream because it was so bad. It felt like my head was being squeezed tighter and tighter in a vice 24/7.

Never felt so happy to go to a Dentist in my life!

I've broken an arm, a finger and crushed my toe, I've also had a nail ripped out and I can honestly say that the week my teeth were aching I was in A LOT more pain than when all of those things happened.

It's awful isn't it? It's like there's no relief and it just keeps on and on.

I honestly felt like I was going to pass out a few times it was so bad!

At one point it was so much that I couldn't move or even focus my eyes on anything lol. the only way to relieve it was to drink ice cold water but move it around in my mouth before swallowing.
I tried to go to the dentists asap but because I hadn't been in years my dentist removed me from their system and I had to reregister... only problem was that they weren't taking new patients so I had to look around :(

I know that feeling!! You just don't know what to do with yourself, total despair.

Same with me but luckily mine took me back though I still had to wait 5 weeks in complete agony. Can't complain though at least I did get sorted even though I had to wait a while!

Not even gonna lie, it was when I had hemorrhoids.

They are excruciating when they're bad.

Sore throat or tonsillitis. Equally vile

The pain of losing a loved one

kirklancaster 13-09-2016 07:48 AM

Emotional pain - The loss of my parents, my best friend who was only 31, and others. The greatest pain from bereavement was more acute when I was young, and the older I have become, the less emotionally devastating it has become - though upsetting nonetheless.

Physical pain - the pain from multiple fractures of the skull which I suffered from being attacked from the back by a coward wielding an hammer. (Nice old world innit?) I also suffered nerve damage to my broken cheekbone which lasted 2 years! That pissed me off more than the fractures. It was the weirdest type of pain.

Apart from the above, I really suffered when I was pissed and broke my clavicle when I had an accident and came off my motorbike at 5am on a country road in Corfu when I was travelling back to my digs in Nissaki from a party in Ipsos. No others were involved Thank God.

The pain did not kick in until the 'morning after'. But it hurt, I'll tell you.

user104658 15-09-2016 08:00 AM

Physical would be getting a big toenail removed. I'm pretty sure the doctor was incompetent - she went chalk white and was shaking - couldn't get the anaesthetic to take and kept injecting more and more and at one point the needle went directly through the tendon (horrendous feeling - it's not even "pain" it's a feeling I can't describe). I was suffering so much that I just said "yeah its numb now" and let her jam the metal rod under my nail, grip it with the little pliers and rip it off.

It was not numb. I just wanted it to be over :umm2:.

Emotional pain is a tough one. I shut down and go alarmingly numb quite easily and then emotional pain leaks out slowly in weird, seemingly unrelated ways for weeks or months. I can't really pinpoint a worst. To be quite honest I suspect most of it just lives in there, repressed and festering.

... .... Ho ho ho.
