Smoking weed

Do you smoke.
I've got a new set of friends and all they do is smoke weed.
They are currently all outside smoking and I'm sat on the sofa by myself :(

reece(: 02-06-2017 09:56 PM

A lovely plant.

Smithy 02-06-2017 09:58 PM

Never have, just the smell makes me feel sick

Get better friends boo!

Shaun 02-06-2017 09:59 PM

Only do it from time to time, I'd never bother to do it habitually. Think the last time I did was COL2 so 2 years ago.

user104658 02-06-2017 10:01 PM

I did maybe two or three times a month from about age 16 - 21 if someone else was offering. Wasn't that much of a fan tbh. Never been "a stoner" and have never actually bought it either.

smudgie 02-06-2017 10:04 PM

Once:blush:

This.

Alf 02-06-2017 10:06 PM

I smoke pot (resin), Not a big fan of weed, it makes you very paranoid, although I'll have it, if it's all I can get hold of.

I've been on the blow since I was 15, 24 years. And I'm currently trying to quit it. Which is going to be hard.

I wish I never started.

Babayaro. 02-06-2017 10:08 PM

I put "I've never" bc the one time I thought I did there was **** all to smoke so it'd be a bit embarrassing if I count it :spin:

The psychoactive subtance (THC) is exactly the same in both, though, it has exactly the same effect on your brain . I think the increased paranoia you're experiencing with weed must be some sort of placebo effect.

Withano 02-06-2017 10:14 PM

I hated it. Made me nauseous and tired. I was already drunk though. Should I do it sober, does that make any difference?

Good luck. You can do this. :)

I can go about my daily business quite normally after a joint of resin, but a joint of weed would mong me out, and make me lazy, and heavy headed, it's far more powerful.

Rob! 02-06-2017 10:23 PM

Used to a lot when I was at uni. Quit a while ago and have barely touched it since.

Lostie! 02-06-2017 10:23 PM

Don't see the appeal, it smells repulsive.

joeysteele 02-06-2017 10:28 PM

Never have.
However I've no objection whatsoever that others do.

I see no problem at all.

Northern Monkey 02-06-2017 10:34 PM

Smoked it from thirteen onwards regularly and enjoyed it for a couple of years until skunk came out and was all you could get for a while. That stuff made me quit. Not a nice chilled mellow feeling.Just smacks you in the face.
Not smoked it for about ten years now and have no desire to.
Did get heavily into 'party' drugs too in my early twenties.Barely even drink now.Maybe four times a year.Pretty much tea total.

It's just a colloquialism, no malice behind it.

Northern Monkey 02-06-2017 10:50 PM

What's wrong with mong?We say it round are end too

Kizzy 02-06-2017 10:50 PM

I've tried it, god knows what I smoked my heart was racing and I felt like I was on a rollercoaster, then I got paranoid because I'd run out of toilet paper and what if someone wanted to go to the toilet?...:/

The second time I my partner said his hand felt funny, it had gone to sleep as he was laid on his side on the floor propped up on his elbow, he said it felt like it was made of brass ....I laughed for an hour solid about his brass hand.

Well it's an offensive term thrown at disabled people.
How else does "mong me out" make sense.

I know you may not have intended it that way, but it is what it is.

Well yeah but if you're not throwing it as an insult to anyone you're not really using it in an offensive context.
Saying 'i'm monged out' is hardly the same as saying 'you ****ing mong' imo of course.

Firewire 02-06-2017 11:00 PM

It's the same as using the N-word and you know it!

Rob! 02-06-2017 11:00 PM

In fairness that is a very used term in the stoner community

That's not what I was saying. I don't think Alf was directing it at anyone.

It's the meaning of the word. When he says he was "monged out" what do you think it is describing?

Yep, another point against weed. Thank you Rob. :smug:

Being stoned

It's been a commonly used word since the 90's atleast

Mong = stoned?

Why do they use the word mong? Can you take a guess?

It's not too dissimilar to "****".

Marsh. 02-06-2017 11:08 PM

Not that I'm suggesting Alf intended that offence. Just pointing out why I think there is absolutely no need for that kind of language.

Oh, i genuinely had no idea. Its a pretty common phrase where I'm from to describe exactly what Alf described, I've never heard the word mong used in any other context

Well yeah that was more than likely the original meaning but i think in the stoner context the word's taken on a dual meaning now.People don't even think about the mental health aspect when they say it now.

Marsh. 02-06-2017 11:17 PM

It's not about an "original" meaning. It's the exact same meaning. It comes from it.

Just as someone falling about pissed might jokingly say they feel like a "****".
