WTF is wrong with the UK?

Contestants in Australia, Canada and the US never behave like those in the UK. They never walk out. They almost never require security. They never try to escape and loosers are never boo'ed or vilified. Why does the UK love the most basic confrontations?

BBUK-Fan 26-06-2017 06:04 PM

It's what makes us real.

Wizard. 26-06-2017 06:04 PM

Come back to me when either of those have 2 ejections for violence in a series okurrr

armand.kay 26-06-2017 06:05 PM

yeah contestants in the us just get to be racist with no impunity

reece(: 26-06-2017 06:06 PM

The UK has MTV shows and this for trashy RTV.

The US has VH1 shows for this sort of entertainment.

Mullens123 26-06-2017 06:07 PM

In the US they let housemates use racial slurs and homophobic language and don't do anything. If half of them were here they'd be thrown out and not become fan favourites. Australian BB was a different kind of show and more family friendly I guess.

Lostie! 26-06-2017 06:07 PM

I think your first mistake was thinking Big Brother contestants are representative of an entire country. I also have to wonder how much of the other countries' BBs you've actually seen if you think they're all sweetness and light.

As if in the US edition fights never happened

or the Australian one having sexual harassement (let's remember John holding Camilla down in her bed so that Ashley could push his penis in her face, shall we?)

Or Kate's homophobic outburst and Glenn treating women like disposable sex dolls the year before (I also heard something about him bragging about beating an animal to death on the live feed).

armand.kay 26-06-2017 06:10 PM

Also don't they get in trouble if they get too drunk on the Australian one? I remember watching one series and this girl got a formal warning just for being tipsy.

Stuff like this, fight nights included, happened in many BB editions around the world (hey France's edition, I'm looking at you particularly).

The thing is, in US and Canada, they don't show their regular life but only what is relevant to the strategic game (unless it does affect majorly the life of the house). So indeed we don't see the daily drama and stuff like this.

And also, the UK is quite permissive when it comes to alcohol (so are France, Spain, Germany and Italy), meaning more drama etc... In the US, they don't get alcohol if they require it, and they only have it in small quantities when they behave well.

Ive never watched any others, but it sounds like their casting directors are even ****ter than ours... and ours are terrible.

If you're playing by those rules then the BBAUS turkey slap says otherwise

EspeonBB 26-06-2017 07:06 PM

I've never watched BBAUS but BBCAN and BBUS are different formats where it's more to do with your fellow housemates than public perception so you're less likely to get into fights

Although BBUS have had ejections and a racism scandal and their casts are kinda trashier than BBUK

Jason. 26-06-2017 07:12 PM

I mean you only have to compare CBB5 and BBUS15 to see that our housemates are tame in comparison to some of the scum they have on BBUS.

I'm sorry but most reality TV shows in the USA contain actual physical fights.....oh not to mention the major homophobia in US BB.

Mystic Mock 26-06-2017 07:31 PM

BBUSA had Evel Dick Cigarette burn Jen just because he didn't like her.

BBCAN admittedly has nicer people, but they're also more dull to watch.

Regarding booing @ BBAU:

They would tell the crowd at Eviction shows specifically not to boo the housemates, though hilariously they didn't care that original host Gretel Killeen would destroy the vile male housemates for fun on stage.... **** she was amazing.
