armand.kay 30-06-2017 05:55 PM

hmm bb10 killed bb?

Locke. 30-06-2017 05:57 PM

Can remember at the time everyone on here was calling BB9 a flop for its ratings, looks a bit silly now doesn't it. Maybe bringing Mo and Darnell back will save the show

Greg! 30-06-2017 05:57 PM

The first couple of weeks of BB10 were ****. The launch was truly awful and would have put a lot of people off.

Barry. 30-06-2017 05:59 PM

BB10 was my least fav.

Samm 30-06-2017 06:01 PM

wow miss 14 snapped kinda annoying how it's not at 2

armand.kay 30-06-2017 06:02 PM

BB14 really did that! Why did it bring in so many views? I really cant put my finger on it theres just something about BB14 that has a classic vibe.

sks yes, think because of emma and the cast probs attracted casuals, didn't sallie's eviction get like 2 million viewers

I remember feeling the same thing. Weird thing is Love Island is considered a smash hit yet BB9 got like 2 million more viewers.

It's because it kind of went back to basics wih a vegetable garden, an outside shower and the fact Brian was sacked and Emma was introduced.

Also interesting to note it kicked off with the lowest launch ever but the great cast really brought in the ratings.

supertv247 30-06-2017 06:10 PM

So BB8 was the start of the end? Every series before that was in their own league

Cal. 30-06-2017 06:11 PM

BB17 really deserves the credit. Just a year ago and manages to pull in the 10th highest amount :clap1:

Nah it was the racism scandal of CBB5 which turned people away.

It was a combination of Nikki returning in BB7, the racism of CBB5 and the all female BB8 launch.

yeah but that was a year after the Nikki voting scandal and only a few months after the race row but at BB10 theres no excuse for the sudden plummeting.

Cal. 30-06-2017 06:24 PM

Also even BB10 would only JUST be beating Love Island if it was to air these days lmao

Love island will be beating that by next week lol
I wish BB14 had made 2 million! The fact BB17 is looking strong with 1.6m for such a late series shows that it still has potential and they shouldn't give up though

It was all a mess tbh

BB-Germany 30-06-2017 07:44 PM

Wow, BB10 lost 1,2 million viewers. That is insane. No wonder they cancelled it after that.

BB18 not doing well but not as bad as people make out though.

BB-Germany 30-06-2017 07:46 PM

But honestly, people acting like BB17 was a huge success and BB16,18 weren't. We'e only talking about 0,2 million. That's quite a bit for C5 standards but those viewers can easily come back at any time tbh.

BB14 really was a success though.

James 30-06-2017 07:49 PM

The explanation for the lower BB10 ratings, people said at the time, was it was the first series not to have a 24-hour live feed. It was just overnight, and sometimes in the afternoon.

Jason. 30-06-2017 07:50 PM

I remember reading somewhere that BB1 averaged 4.5m

But yeah, BB10's ratings were awful, I think that was when the show began to feel stale on C4 and you realised nobody really cared about it anymore.

Jason. 30-06-2017 07:55 PM

It's weird how BB7 was seen as a huge success at the time, when it only narrowly beat BB6 in the ratings, which was seen as a flop at the time.

Although BB7 had much higher launch/final ratings as well as more hype and press coverage surrounding the series so I guess that counts too.

HBIC 30-06-2017 08:05 PM

BB14 is proof that if Channel 5 actually put in an effort, regular BB can be successful.

I still think BB14 is the best Channel 5 series. The cast felt like old school BB, the "secrets & lies" twists actually worked out, and the Gina vs Hazel rivalry is still one of the best rivalries this show has had. BB14 also had a couple hours of live feed a day which I think helped drum up hype (like everybody watching the events that led to Daley's ejection).

Oaker 30-06-2017 08:09 PM

If not for the Olympics BB13 would have been close to beating BB14 I think?

Denver 30-06-2017 08:12 PM

BB10 paid dust for being a top 3 series

Yeah, the first couple weeks averaged 2 million and week 5 was at 1.94 then it started to slip with the olympics and split eviction shows

I agree about BB14 showing that Ch5 can still get a really successful series if they do it right. It's also the one time they've had live feed for Civilian BB and look at the hype it built..
BB17 shows this to some extent too. If they had executed the others twist as good as they did secrets and lies, and had some live feed, last year would've been even more successful
