Ben Frow's session
At 28:00 he talks about Big Brother for a few minutes (and addresses the hate mail he got last week :laugh2:)
https://youtu.be/RaxEVlhAaOU |
He wouldn't get so much hate if he actually ran the show ****ing properly
|
first time i have ever seen him , very camp.
|
I'll tell you how to make it "relevant for now" Ben Frow, bring back live feed, i.e. the point of the show, stick to the original format and stop making up stupid twists every single week.
|
God I've watched the first 5 minutes of the whole session. I've never heard anyone talk so much ****e in all my life.
"I think Channel 5 is a Northern channel. We don't want anyone from London watching" :umm2: "I imagine Channel 5 viewers being from Middlesbrough. I don't know where Middlesbrough is though." :umm2: "I think the typical channel 5 viewer is an old lady and her granddaughter watching TV together" :umm2: He talks fookin bollocks! :Chanelle: |

He said 2 million was a BIg BIG number for C5 but does not want to be held to ransom by the company that makes BB

"I think Channel 5 is a Northern channel. We don't want anyone from London watching"
Don't think they were watching in the first place? |

He deleted it but I know someone's who saved it so it'll be on twitter soon

Let’s spread some positivity and just notice that he didn’t say it’ll be axed, they’re giving it a chance next year to get the ratings up x
Come THROUGH Endemol to make a good show Come THROUGH old fans x |
He did mention Love Island in terms of "er well Love Island trashed BB so they better think of something pretty quick or its toast"
|
What is hilarious is that Love Island may have been a huge success this year, but next year it could easily flop again.
BB has been around for so long you can't ever really count it out, the problem is the people in charge seem to be chasing a perception of what is "young", "current" and "popular" instead of remembering why BB was such a phenomenon in the first place. Regular people living in a space together under the observation of Big Brother, while the public view them 24/7 and decide who stays/goes. |
he is correct in one sense though, things do need to change with BB and going back to basics isn't going to give the audience boost required, it has to be something new and engaging

'How will it be creatively renewed?'
'We need to take a good long look at Big Brother and go "what does it look like for the future? What is Big Brother of the future" 'That means creative people, creative people (lol good luck with this production team xx) getting together in a room and thrashing it out' 'How do we refresh? ------------- Well, you know what's coming now... :hehe: switch to the US format (potentially with some tweaks), up the prize fund to £250k and make people auditioning aware that it will not be a summer holiday but a gameshow, then make half the cast people who want the money at any cost and the other half people like Jayne, Natalie Rowe, Kim Woodburn (emotional messes in other words), cut the cringey graphics and Marcus-screaming intros and tone the whole show down, make Emma have a more serious role, actually promote the God damn programme as if it's something ~new~ and ~exciting~ and let's see what happens. There is nothing to lose at this point |
Not the US format because we'll lose big characters that way
|
We lose big characters (a peculiar argument given your favourites...) with the current format  at least if they leave under US rules it's their own fault and not the viewers

ALTHOUGH you could argue VTE makes them more money idk |
I low-key want C5 to implement the US format just so I could spend the whole summer cackling at how they butcher it even more than Grodner butchers BBUS.
I can already picture the Second House being used as the Jury House, that's literally something C5 would do. :joker: |

The US format isn't perfect but it's better than what we've got, and all the talk now is of 'refreshing the show' and something has to give. Back to basics isn't going to cut in IMO and so the choice is a more Love Island/EOTB type programme with young casts and a focus on showmances or a whole new approach to the show and the game, I know what I'd prefer |
NO NO NO US format. Stop this now.
|
I think the public vote is favoured more to get more money and I prefer it tbh
|
The US format would not work over here and viewership would be down even more.
|
The public vote IS BBUK x
|
NO at the US format. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

There would be more controversy and outrage if it was US format because what people like is that BBUK has a different format so doing the same as the rest won't help it

Channel 5 got big brother wrong right from the start. Bake Off moving to channel 4 has really highlighted this. Okay they've got new judges and presenters, but the format, editing and feel of the show is exactly the same as ever. When BB moved to channel 5, the tone was completely different, the editing was trash and the live feed, the most unique and exciting part of the show, was gone. 5 million people watched the CBB8 launch and then at least 3 million of them never tuned in again because C5 completely ruined the feel of the show. We can only imagine what BB would be like now if it launched with the same look and feel and format as it had on channel 4.
So basically imo the only realistic way of "creativity renewing" it or "making it more relevant" is to go back to the original format, improve the tasks and editing, and BRING BACK LIVE FEED. That's literally all the fans, past and present, have been asking for for years. It's not that hard! |
