And a shake up of the voting system has been discussed:

One former Big Brother exec producer suggested the producers need to overhaul the “outdated” voting system to bring fans closer to the show. Insiders believe that Frow’s public comments may bring forward negotiations about the show’s future.

For all Frow’s tough talk, cancelling Big Brother would leave C5 with a vast hole in its schedule. Last year, the Viacom-owned broadcaster aired 69 episodes of Celebrity Big Brother and 51 episodes of the ‘civilian’ show, as well as 87 hours of the Bit On The Side spinoff, totalling 211 hours. Celebrity Big Brother accounted for 39 of the channel’s top 50 highest-rating programmes of 2016.

One entertainment indie exec mused: “I can’t imagine what he thinks will play for 100 hours at 9pm. Maybe he’ll show 60 series of Rich House, Poor House?”

They're going to pull the same 'THE GAME IS CHANGING' thing and some people are gonna be all 'OOH THEy"RE ACTUALLY DOING IT!' and they wont.

Personally I thought that pretty clearly meant doing a Love Island and switching to free app voting (though they're trying to conserve money so *shrug*)

This is probably closer to the truth but this show needs a whole lot more than free app voting

Mess imagine if they axed weekly live shows and replaced them with more backdoor style evictions :skull: and just have Emma turn up once in a while a la Caroline

I have no idea what that is....actually is that the bait bus where they lure in straight boys to do gay porn? Lol if so no that's not what I mean. Every reality show has a gimmick these days and not one revolves around the gay community it's all tits and straight relationships. It would honestly be an interesting concept imo.

The first thing I also thought about the voting is the introduction of free app voting. Almost every single TV show with viewer voting has it now, except BB, which does make it look very dated.

I read somewhere recently that BB was getting around 100k votes per series while Love Island was getting 100k votes her 30 minute voting window on the app this year. I know they had higher ratings, but that's still an extremely big difference because of the free app voting

I don't know where they would make their money if they were to do this though. Love Island/X Factor/I'm A Celebrity/Britain's Got Talent make theirs through ad revenue but Big Brother doesn't generate much ad revenue anymore does it?

I'm also shocked the voting is so low now. 100k+ alone voted in the BB15 final didn't they? Or was that just Helen's votes icr?
