Getting embarrassing

RileyH 03-09-2017 11:20 AM

I was expecting worse tbh, with the lack of promo and advertising

lewis111 03-09-2017 11:20 AM

It's not awful but I can't really think what they can do now to boost ratings again
Brining back Cheryl and Simon helped a bit but now they've kinda hit a brick wall - a major change up to the show is needed but idk what

Ross. 03-09-2017 11:39 AM

Hopefully they just focus on themselves and their ratings and not try to compete with Strictly

supertv247 03-09-2017 01:04 PM

Last year fell to 6.2 on the Sunday so if tonight can hold on to last nights audience then that'll be good at least.

I was going to say, when Strictly starts it'll probably drop to much lower.

supertv247 03-09-2017 02:41 PM

See last year got 6.8m then 6.2m then the following Saturday aired at 8:15pm as soon as the strictly launch finished and got 8.3m. The rest of the auditions then stayed in the high 7's - but this year there's a 40 minute overlap next week so there's no telling how it'll affect XF

Jack_ 03-09-2017 02:58 PM

Are they doing two weeks of Six Chair (four episodes) this year? The final is the first weekend of December this year which is not okay either :bored:

I wonder whether they'll move the IAC final to the Friday and have a 'finals weekend' like the BBC do with SPOTY/Strictly/The Apprentice or keep it on the Sunday and have X Factor run 19:00-21:00. Could be quite a big weekend

They have said the plan is to extend the middle rounds so I think it'll be something like
8 Audition episodes (up from 7 in 2016)
2 Bootcamp (up from 1 in 2016)
4 Six chair (up from 2 in 2016)
2 Judges houses (same as 2016)
6 Live weeks (down from 10 in 2016)
In comparison to last year this will last 14 weeks which is down from 16, but it started a week later and apparently will end a week earlier.

IMO it would be better to last one extra week (7 live shows) and end on December 10th, around the usual finale date. That's a week after IAC usually ends and a week before SCD ends, it isn't as random as the start of December and is in time for the Christmas charts so would make most sense

Jack_ 03-09-2017 03:40 PM

Sounds about right, I forgot there was only one Bootcamp episode last series

I agree they should've never moved the final weekend but it's definitely 2nd/3rd December this year because the competition confirmed it, so unless IAC starts a week earlier they'll be finishing around the same time.

Maybe they'll have the final final on the Sunday only one hour then? That's what The Voice done, then they could have the IAC final at 9pm

Denver 03-09-2017 03:52 PM

The only way that works is moving the IAC final back to Fridays

Ross. 03-09-2017 05:33 PM

They've moved the final weekend as well? That's IT this show is cancelled

supertv247 03-09-2017 05:41 PM

Are we sure the competition always ends on the final? Having the final at the start of December is just a weird move because it usually fits nicely leading into the Christmas break and this especially doesn't make if they're still going for the Christmas charts

It's been the best rating part of the show ever since it started
It done exceptionally well in 2015 actually. Last year both episodes averaged 7.1m which was like a million more than judges houses

The competition includes tickets to the final on the 2nd December, if they play it tonight you'll see

I think there's more pressure on the show these days to hit that christmas number one which fair play they did for years and it was allways a no brainier but recently acts aren't even hitting the top 5 so it's a bit of a smart move imo.

I do hate the 6 chair challenge though I hope they aren't extending it to 4 episodes like you said as it's tedious.

Lol why does it matter it finishes on the 2nd of December I know it's like a nostalgia fest having X factor on at Christmas but it's not working anymore....chuck on its a wonderful life instead and maybe a bit of gremlins.

supertv247 03-09-2017 07:49 PM

TBF these days most songs peak after a few weeks of release due to streaming being such a big influence in the charts, so maybe it's a smart move

Exactly and alot of people will associate that song as a Christmas song which after Christmas is over is unappealing to the majority let's hope they actually write a good winners single that represents the contestant this year.

supertv247 04-09-2017 09:13 AM

6.52 million last night

Up 320k overnight and up 270k on last year's same episode!

Denver 04-09-2017 09:14 AM

Gaga Lord did that

As long as they don't give the winner a Christmas song this year (not only was matts song awful, but they could only play it for like 2 weeks) then idc what they give them to sing.

Yeah something like Impossible that James Arthur had was much more fitting as it stayed in the charts for weeks and still gets airplay etc. Matt's song was done after a week

supertv247 10-09-2017 09:23 AM

Down to 5.6m against strictlys 8.8m last night. XF still won the 16-34s though

It's a shame because last year they didn't clash, and it helped SCD get its highest ever launch (9.3m) which lead to XF getting 8.3m off the back of it

Official ratings
Saturday - 7.77m
Sunday - 7.86m

Saturday down a million on last year, Sunday down only 100k
Saturdays launch is officially the 4th lowest ever (after series 1, then 2, then 3)

The next officials will be tragic, last years same Saturday got 10.2m for week 2 while this year will be around 7.0m........

Eddie. 16-09-2017 06:26 AM

I love the six chair challenge, matter of fact, I think that is the only part of the X-Factor I have truly enjoyed ever since I've started watching. X-Factor has been a bit boring these past few years, and I have never watched a series in full in like forever. Ratings are still decent tho.

supertv247 24-09-2017 09:33 AM

Last nights X Factor officially had the lowest rating the show has ever had.

The X Factor - 4.8 million
Strictly Come Dancing - 9.4 million

:worry:
