Live show format confirmed

Two categories will perform on Saturday night, with the remaining two performing on Sunday night. One act will be eliminated on Saturday and one on Sunday most weeks (no sing off at all) and there may be weeks where 2 acts are eliminated each night (which will be one act from each category)
This format stays until the semi final (week 5)

Greg! 22-10-2017 08:54 PM

Ewww at them axing the sing off

Black Dagger 22-10-2017 08:56 PM

Trash at no sing off.

Ross. 22-10-2017 08:56 PM

The show just died in front of our eyes

supertv247 22-10-2017 08:57 PM

Just seen that it also says there will be a weekly prize vote where the viewers will basically vote for a winner each week...

Drew. 22-10-2017 08:57 PM

RIP

Lostie! 22-10-2017 08:57 PM

lmao I made the right choice to not bother this year then

Greg! 22-10-2017 08:58 PM

This is trash, don't get why only half the acts perform each night

andybigbro 22-10-2017 08:58 PM

Is this **** for real?

Wizard. 22-10-2017 08:58 PM

She’s officially dead!

Ross. 22-10-2017 09:00 PM

Not here for one from each category going either

RileyH 22-10-2017 09:00 PM

Just axe it

Marsh. 22-10-2017 09:15 PM

The sing-off was pointless anyway.
98% of the time they just axed whoever was against their own category and blatantly had no regard for whoever gave the better performance.

I'd also say, axing one from each category makes it more interesting than Louis inevitably ending up with zero groups left by week 3 and us getting the heart throbs.

Getting down to the final 4 being one from each category sounds better to me.

Each round up to the lives is about whittling each category down to the best 3 or 4, so continuing that in the lives until you're left with the "winner" of each category to then face one another and win "X Factor" just sounds better to me.

Withano 22-10-2017 09:16 PM

****ing gross.

Morgan. 22-10-2017 09:16 PM

I like it?

Wrong. Lol. So wrong. Reread it, its ****.

Marsh. 22-10-2017 09:21 PM

Also, the show is stale as sh*t so is in dire need of major format changes if it wants to continue.

lewis111 22-10-2017 09:23 PM

So only 2 are eliminated each week? Or is it 1 from each Catagory?
Would be bad if them to put girls and groups together as they are the strongest so doubt they would do that

Go watch The Voice Series 1-3 if you like it so much then!

It's a terrible format

The Voice is completely different though.

And I don't watch either anymore. :hee:

Mostly it will be 2 each week, which is twice as many as usual. Never mind the fact when they do have a double elimination (because there’s only 6 weeks) it’ll be 4 eliminated in one week....... it’s terrible

Marsh. 22-10-2017 09:32 PM

But even if they did it the regular way, it's still terrible because the show is dead and stale.

Last year's live shows kept me interested - the normal format and the growth of he likes of Saara and the downfall of the likes of Emily make 10 weeks live shows from being boring

Firewire 22-10-2017 09:35 PM

Just cancel it now

Hmm that's not AS bad as one eliminated from each Catagory as I'm sure all the girls could get to at least like top 7 ish

James 22-10-2017 09:36 PM

It's the two-hour shows I can't really be bothered with. Sing-offs would probably make it feel even more drawn out. I guess they've also decided the acts won't have enough time to rehearse sing-off songs.

No, if there is a double elimination (which there will be) it WILL be one from each category

Firewire 22-10-2017 09:40 PM

It's absolutely NOT fair that certain categories will not compete against each other until week 5

But what if by the time they have say their 2nd there's only 1 group left which could happen - surely they just eliminate the 2 of the night that got the fewest votes even if it is 2 from the same Catagory?

I'm hoping they change it around but it probabaly wouldn't work numbers wise if one Catagory is still number strong and one has lost a few they would always have to go against each other

James 22-10-2017 09:47 PM

The judges don't have a say anymore in who goes, yeah?

Daniel-X 22-10-2017 09:47 PM

Sounds horrific

When you put it like that it does seem to take away the difference that made X Factor unique to the "Idol" shows back when it started.

The double will probably happen in week 2 (I’m assuming not week one straight after we just voted 4 acts in) so there will be 3 acts in one category an 4 in the other each night. Then another 1 will leave from each?

This is...the worst format they could've chosen :umm2: axing the sing-off is CRIMINAL* cause it's the best part of the weekend, pitting two categories against one another is completely unfair, forcing one act to leave each category on occasion (a la The Voice, which is one of the many reasons why it ****ing sucks) is bogus because if all acts in a category are crap, they're crap. What on earth have they done? It's official, it's worse than 2015.

*Talking of Idol, I'm pretty sure the legal case that was brought against The X Factor in its early days determined that the two formats were distinct because of the sing-off (and the category divisions). Hope Simon Fuller is on the phone to his lawyers as we speak tbh xx

A great group of finalists completely wasted as well :bored:

The most annoying thing about all of this is that everything about last series was perfect, apart from the finalists they chose. If they'd just looked at last year and gone 'hm, if Judges Houses hadn't been such a disaster maybe the lives would've done better', then we might've had some hope this time around because they've rectified that mistake this weekend. Instead they seem to think it's the actual live shows themselves that were the problem

Put these finalists in last year's series and you have one that's up there with 2008/2010/2012. I'm so gutted
