What do you do when you have a cold?

Got a really bad one atm and was wondering what you guys do for it

Redway 15-12-2017 11:04 AM

Sleep.

caprimint 15-12-2017 11:43 AM

Drink tea (any kind, green tea, lemon/honey/ginger tea, other flavours etc). Also I find vicks and inhalers really help too.

Also try to go for a walk, you will feel worse if you stay in bed all day long.

Did that yesterday and I feel worse today for it

Green tea relieves it whilst you're drinking it. Avoid alcohol as every night you drink with a cold you basically add another day onto the cold. Sleep and feel sorry for yourself.

Alf 15-12-2017 12:03 PM

Sweat it out of you.

A berroca is a form of Vitamin tablet which dissolves in water to create a sort of vitamin infused fizzy orange

Jamie89 17-12-2017 05:43 PM

I've had an awful cold as well the last few days :( Try and eat plenty of healthy food with lots of vitamins, even if you don't have much of an appetite. Get as much sleep/rest as possible. Drink loads of water. And try not to over exert yourself - mentally as well as physically, stress will make it worse.

Tozzie 15-02-2018 06:58 PM

just get on with it really, unless it's the flu which then obviously you are bed ridden. I've had my fair share of chest infections/cold and pneumonia this year and now I've just caught another cold thats worryingly gone to my chest again, off I go to the doctors in the morning. My advice would be don't smoke because some colds can turn into chest infections and when the lungs are weakened by smoking it's not good. I've ended up with COPD and I quit smoking 10 years ago  Oh and take Vitamin C

GoldHeart 19-02-2018 10:28 PM

Flu medicine

LaLaLand 19-02-2018 10:54 PM

Old wives tale: "Wash your hair".

I guess it's the same principal as putting your face over a steaming hot bowl but yeah, always eases it for me.

Marsh. 19-02-2018 10:57 PM

I thought that was about catching a cold. Washing your hair and not drying it.

Mystic Mock 20-02-2018 01:56 AM

1. Eat alot of warm meals.

2. Wrap yourself up in thick layers of clothing.

3. As disgusting as it sounds just let it out instead of trying to hold the sneeze in.

4. If you've got a Sore Throat with your cold then I'd recommend eating Ice Cream as it can sooth your throat and stop it feeling so painful.

I hope this helps.

LemonJam 20-02-2018 02:15 AM

Green tea with real honey lemon and ginger in is a god send. And a good home made chicken and ginger soup with heaps of garlic and vitamin c
