How will it look if a drag queen wins Year of the Woman?

How would it look if a drag queen (a male dressing as a female) wins Year of the Woman?

What message will that send?

Vanessa 30-01-2018 07:26 PM

I think Shane J would make a great winner. He's kind, compassionate and entertaining. Doesn't matter that he's a man now, does it?

RileyH 30-01-2018 07:26 PM

It would make no difference than a man winning it

Daniel. 30-01-2018 07:28 PM

It wont send any message

Maru 30-01-2018 07:28 PM

Like they should've made it a woman's only BB til the end, but other than that, democracy.

Cherie 30-01-2018 07:30 PM

It would be a shame in some ways a great series ruined by a male winner, but hey ho, it won't ruin my life or anything

that said I have a long shot bet on Wayne at 66/1 so that would improve my life, so swings and roundabouts

Smithy 30-01-2018 07:31 PM

I think it would send a message of acceptance personally

Vicky. 30-01-2018 07:31 PM

Society thinks men make better women than women do. Whats new

Vicky. 30-01-2018 07:32 PM

(Would be happy with Shane winning though, that was an attempt at a joke. Though I do think its semi-true too)

Shaun 30-01-2018 07:33 PM

Sarah Harding already won

joeysteele 30-01-2018 07:37 PM

It would mean exactly the same no matter who won it.

voting for a "real" woman just because of the season theme sounds rather discriminatory to me.

The theme will still have been 'year of the woman', the winner doesn't change that (most winners don't represent their series imo). And tbh the theme doesn't really have much integrity anyway. They basically turned it into battle of the sexes rather than year of the woman, plus the first 3 evictees were women, I've enjoyed the series and everything but let's not pretend the theme was anything more than a stunt  It's BB, it shouldn't be looked as being anything meaningful.

Jamie89 30-01-2018 07:43 PM

And anyway Dapper Laughs could have won so it could have been worse!

Bones 30-01-2018 07:44 PM

It would be wrong.

Jodie. 30-01-2018 07:48 PM

Great bc it would show WOMEN ARE WOMEN and they ARE STILL WOMEN* even if they WERENT BORN IT
*when they want to

But really if we’re following the theme rules:
A LIAR would’ve won secrets and lies
Snap! would’ve won Power Trip
Idk for time bomb
Someone who was English AND Welsh AND Scottish AND Irish would’ve won United Kingdom Of Big Brother

That's true. If they were serious about it it would have been all women to the end.

And none of the bleeding stereotypes they stuck in.

But yeah, do people seriously want a woman to win just because of the theme? I find that odd. Was an interesting start to the series I agree, but if it had to be a woman winning, then why put in men anyway D: And whilst the first few days were really decent, the series would have flopped totally with no men, plus none the whole time would be pretty discriminatory anyway. I wonder how many will vote for a woman solely to have a woman winning. Theres still a LOT of men bitter on my facebook over the 'sexist' launch who reckon they will vote for anyone who possesses a Y chromosome just to stop a woman winning. equally as petty

Kylie would have won in a tense final two against Tove Lo

people moaned when 3 women were evicted first, and the triple with 4 men was to even things up to keep the "theme" alive, so I think the "theme" was relevant depending on the occasion of course

Niamh. 31-01-2018 08:37 AM

It doesn't send any message really?

Alf 31-01-2018 08:42 AM

It would just prove what we all know deep down. Men's personalities are more likeable.

People Will just laugh, because when he's announced winner of CBB 2018 Emma will say Courtney not Shane J  .

So they'll probably make a joke about the drag performance , and he'll probably have a smug giggle about the whole thing :notimpressed: .

Kazanne 31-01-2018 08:53 AM

I don't mind a drag queen winning,I just wish it could have been a nicer one.

Yeah, isn't that a bit unfair as he has two chances against everyone else's one,as he pretends to be two identities:shrug:

Ammi 31-01-2018 08:54 AM

...I guess the ‘look’ if in drag as Courtney when she was crowned, would be a very sexy and beautiful look.....but the theme of year of the woman was only a starting point really...(...maybe to attract the interest of some female housemates that wouldn’t have considered otherwise...?..)...but it’s felt less year of the woman and more battle of the sexes, for a large part...

Oh so you prefer Shane J to Ann then :hehe:

Crimson Dynamo 31-01-2018 09:01 AM

It will be an insult to the theme but then again he was put in to cause drama with India so really the producers have no respect for women, drag queens or transgender people. they just care about their jobs and the money that pays them so they can buy things and be seen to be important - that need and the need to procreate is our 2 main drivers in life

Makes no difference to me who wins. I think Ann will go down in the BB history books as the star of the series, whatever the result.

I just think Courtney/Shane J is overrated AF with both his drag act and him as a person.
plus he's shown a bitchy side that never knows when to quit :bored: .

I know some people are saying as it's "Year of the woman" it seems odd him winning, but it's more the fact he'll make a joke about winning as Courtney which will be annoying.

Shane L or Wayne could win and I wouldn't mind . A man winning isn't the problem it's the person who's winning that I have a problem with .it's ashame he wasted his time in the BB house acting like a kid and he became unpleasant to watch .

If he was a nicer personwith more maturity and his faculties then it wouldn't matter him winning. And then I could understand his popularity more.

Makes no difference to me either, I actually like all of the ones left for once

Disagree, they have banged on about it even up to last night with the girl band task, when they have had previous themes they tend to run out of steam after a week, but this one has just kept on going
