Women wearing hijabs in beauty Pageants

This is a 19 year old

The BBC had another one in the UK
on their sloppy bbc breakfast show before 9AM
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...ear-hijab.html
the UK one is aged 20

I guess they can be sexy

jaxie 31-03-2018 09:13 AM

This is an odd one because it's not the cloth on head but the teaching behind it that a woman is not modest unless she covers her hair, that her hair is somehow wanton. In which case isn't a beauty pageant wanton and immodest since it's about women's beauty and parading around to be admired? So isn't that some sort of contradiction to the point of wearing the covering at all? I wonder how they do the swimsuit section.

Yes for some

its a Charity backing her
and its all about how clever they are, as well

Nicky91 31-03-2018 09:19 AM

When it suits - as always. Sick to death of it and it is about time something was done about it in the West.

If they do it’s a political plan to make a point.

ethanjames 31-03-2018 10:04 AM

don't see what the issue is they look beautiful

Yes it could be
but as a charity event
it would not be Up Top etc.

Yes Beautiful and Clever
then they can win.

y.winter 31-03-2018 10:05 AM

It's like that hair product ad that had a woman with a hijab covering her entire head :joker:

The issue is apparent if you watch the vid.

Thats your interpretation, and your personal opinions on what you think is allowed based on your interpretation. The swimsuit round was covered in that video lol. Did you watch it?

This was also covered in that short video?! Did you watch it?!

Er no it's not.

Lets be real here, Jaxie. You assumed it was a contradiction of her beliefs based on your incredibly narrow and short interpretation of what the hijab must mean to every single woman, including this one. You haven’t watched the video, what kind of discussion were you actually hoping for?

Most of her was covered so how can she compete on an equal level - it is effectively cheating. She might have awful hair and a less attractive figure than the others - but how could anyone tell. On a physical level she is being judged on her face alone - whilst the others are being judged on other physical attributes too.

Never approved of the things anyway - but if they are competing and being judged they should do so on an equal playing-field.

Why did you quote me/that post in that rant?

What rant? Just pointed out that you can’t just dip your toe in the water or part sit an exam - it’s all or nothing otherwise it isn’t fair on the other contestants. More concessions for religion

It’s called having your cake and eating it.

I dont understand why you’ve chosen me to engage in this conversation with you.

Nither of us know how this competition is judged anyway, I can’t imagine either of us having much to add past our personal opinions and preconceptions of what makes a beauty pageant winner.

Tom4784 31-03-2018 12:34 PM

I don't have a problem with it, it's not like you can't see her face and the hijab would more likely go against her than serve as an advantage, which is quite a silly argument. As long as it's her choice, I don't see the issue with her wearing a scarf or choosing to remain covered in the swimwear section because that's her choice and it's one that probably didn't benefit her position in the competition in the long run.

Cherie 31-03-2018 12:38 PM

She is a beautiful girl, but I fail to see how she thought she could compete on a level playing field, if part of the criteria is you should your body in a swimsuit and obviously marks are awarded in this section.

It would be like a guy going into Mr Universe and refusing to show his muscles.

Oh you mean your narrow interpretation of what I am thinking. I forgot you think for me these days. Silly me.

Was it you or was it not who accused me of not having watched the video and therefore not a valid opinion.

You responded to a post asking whether she can win as if you were unaware. I asked if you watched it, not for your rant on it.

Crimson Dynamo 31-03-2018 12:52 PM

Id need to see her in a swim suit before I can make any judgement

You realise your original post spoke for millions of people, includig the pageant contestant herself haha.

Withano 31-03-2018 12:53 PM

People get angry when you call them out for not watching the video before making their minds up. Hmm.

Don’t quote mine and I may not quote yours. If you do, judging by many of your previous responses, I likely will. Clear as I can be.

I’m fine with you quoting me, I was just confused why you quoted a specific post of mine to engage me in a discussion completely unrelated in the post. Its a bit weird.

And her figure. I should imagine many of the women aren’t keen to do the swimsuit bit, like a piece of meat - so why should she be let off the hook! No-one forced her to enter so she competes properly or not at all.

Tom4784 31-03-2018 01:19 PM

It's a swimsuit section, not a bikini section, She could rock up in a scuba suit if she wanted and that would probably count.

Honestly Brillo, the whole 'SHE'S CHEATING' angle is quite irrational and nonsensical. Wearing a hijab and covering up for the Swimsuit section would count against her and if you actually watched the video you'd know that she didn't come close to winning.

Someone that's covered up in a beauty competition will not win against someone that's blonde, got a body like Jessica Rabbit and isn't shy about it. A girl wearing a hijab is not at an advantage, it's a disadvantage to cover up.

If that's the case
none will Win.

The 19 year year old in USA
would do swim gear
Not sure about the 20 year old UK Lady

That depends on whose judging it and how far political stances gets in the way.
