No

Greg! 01-06-2018 03:44 PM

IMO it is a bit. (although I'm a hypocrite and will still watch it). Like they literally don't allow you to go on the show if you're gay. Sounds pretty homophobic to me! I get that the format doesn't really allow for same sex couples, but they could just tweak the format if they wanted to.

LukeB 01-06-2018 03:45 PM

No, Season 2 had a bi and lesbian (who could have been bi icr)

Tony Montana 01-06-2018 03:45 PM

No it's not

Oh i thought so but some said she was a lesbian put in for Sophie.

Li are planning a LGBT version apparently

Jack_ 01-06-2018 03:59 PM

It's more heteronormative than homophobic

T* 01-06-2018 04:00 PM

I would've said the same thing as Jack if it wasn't for that twat at the edinburgh festival who said we had enough shows

Mokka 01-06-2018 04:12 PM

I'm pretty sure Australia has a gay on it rt now

Crimson Dynamo 01-06-2018 04:25 PM

Its commercial and playing to 4% of the population does not get advertisers in.

Jason. 01-06-2018 04:30 PM

No.

The ones that gob off about it being homophobic all the time just have a chip on their shoulder and look for any reason to find fault with the show!

Alf 01-06-2018 04:33 PM

You could ask, "where are a lot of people?" It's their show and they should be able to put on who they want. If you don't like it, then don't watch, nobody is forcing you to.

Daniel. 01-06-2018 04:36 PM

No :umm2:

They would still have the same advertising revenue if they had a few gays on it as well so don't talk ****e!

incorrect, less people would watch and as such they get less advertising

you just dont understand commercial tv and advertising is all

Oh sorry! Didn't realise I was speaking to an expert in commercial television and advertising.

For what logical reason would having some non-heterosexual people on the show lead to less viewership? Please enlighten me.

Ashley. 01-06-2018 05:27 PM

No. The whole point of the show is matching men with women, that's the premise. Matching men with men or women with women would require a different show with a different format. Still a terrible show though, mind.

Thats ridiculous. The concept wouldn't work well with lgbt contestants.

Because the point of the show is that all the men are fighting over the women and vice versa.

If it had lgbt contestants, there would be hardly anyone fighting over anyone, as there would only be a small select of lesbians, a small select of gays, and a small select of straight men and straight women. It'd also mean there would be contestants that had ZERO interest in others, defeating the purpose of the show and removing a lot of potential drama [i.e. lesbians and gays]

It'd take away from everyone fighting for everyone as everyone would be split into 4 seperate categories, the cast would need to be huge for it to have that effect, and a huge cast means you know no one..

So lesbians and gays don't get into arguments? Okay then. You could also have bi people who could fight over both men AND women

DouglasS 01-06-2018 06:35 PM

... well no not really sis. If they cast good people, they will create entertainment and drama regardless of what their sexual orientation is. Ok, so they might need to make the cast a bit bigger. Who cares? Last years' series had about 34 islanders in total.

hijaxers 01-06-2018 06:39 PM

No but either way i won't be watching this trash.

Jamie89 01-06-2018 06:40 PM

I don't know but the show sounds terrible so I'm tempted to vote 'Yes' just to be awkward

Do it. Yes is flopping, didn't expect this!

LukeB 01-06-2018 06:43 PM

Greg why haven't you included Take Me Out since that is basically setting up a male with a female just like Love Island?

Li are interested in doing a LGBT version so i don't see them being homophobic at all.

Greg! 01-06-2018 06:46 PM

If they do make an LGBT version or include gays in the normal version then I'll be a happy chick!

For the record, not trying to sound like a SJW but I think Take Me Out is homophobic, and sexist as well. And ****
