Michael Fabricant MP accused of 'Islamophobia' over crude tweet of Sadiq Khan & a pig
http://static4.uk.businessinsider.co...8ijpg-orig.jpg
Fabricant subsequently deleted the tweet, and claims he didn't see Sadiq Khan's face in the image before sharing it. "I deleted it as soon as I saw Sadiq Khan’s face on the picture," he said in a tweet. I did not see it was him. He may be a useless Mayor, but he’s a nice guy whom I worked with when he was in Parliament." http://uk.businessinsider.com/michae...ophobia-2018-7 The guy has since explained it was a retweet error and it just goes to show how dangerous twitter when you dont concentrate on what you are doing! |
Lichfield MP Mr Fabricant said: "I did not see the detail on my small iPhone."
"I am genuinely sorry if it caused anyone offence and I am disappointed in the person who sent it to me in the first place." |
Saw him on TV last night, his wig looks preposterous lol
The joke? Meh, not arsed. Is Khan bothered? Any reaction from him? |
Why does he, Boris and trump all have the same terrible hair?

Similarly to what I thought of Corbyn not looking closely at an image, I say the same about this guy. I don't believe for a moment he didnt know what he was doing

I think if you're gonna make a post aimed at a Muslim which involves a pig then it's islamophobic just like it would be inappropriate if it was aimed at a jew or if it involved a cow and was aimed at a Hindu.
|
While the picture could be anyone when looked at in a glance on a phone screen, who did he think it was? The words right above the image have Sadiq's name in them, so even if he's claiming to think it was just a random guy from the picture, surely the caption would give him a clue?

The Pig
should be in a Hot Dog LT. |
No different to someone joking on here about trump grabbing the queens pussy..
Imo of course. |
He went too far in recirculating this and the original architect went too far in depicting a pig. There would have been nothing wrong in depicting Kahn as a baby a la the Trump balloon.
Except that BOTH are ****ing childish, of course. |

Or is it because it is so prevalent among people you support and aimed at people you don't like? |
Who knew that Fabric could be so cruel!?

Blow it up into some huge ‘hate crime’ to intimidate and close down opposition to large scale immigration. They aren’t as high-brow as they like to think - just totally transparent! |

Things can be words even if you dislike them. Stomping your feet, crossing your arms and shouting NO doesnt change anything. |
Obviously Michael was a dickhead, obviously it wasnt an accident, him pretending that it was at least shows that he cares about his stupidness a tiny bit I suppose.

I know it won't make me popular on here but I would probably be labelled under Islamophobic myself as I have a lot of serious issues with the Religion's "morals" I will treat individuals of the Religion fine if they're nice to me, but I do intensely dislike the Religion, but then I have a lot of issues with Christianity aswell. I apologize for going off on a wild tangent btw. |
you chose to be a musllim
therefore islamophobia does not really exist alongside such things as racism and homophobia |

Apparently any criticism of that particular religion can only be an ‘irrational’ one. It is so contrived - and downright disingenuous! Not buying it for a minute! |

Gynophobia is a fear or dislike of women. Is that a made up word with no real meaning? |

In summary, youve spent a few years being angry over a word because you believed that people you disliked made it up. |
Hmm. Bit of a stupid thing to do but it seems it was just a..snap judgement thing rather than intentional? Should have a bit more sense mind

The suffix ‘phobia’ loosely translates to ‘an aversion to’ if thats what you’re going on a tangent about. Nobody has ever been called homophobic for being petrified of gay men. So new summary, you’ve spent a few years being angry over a word, because you gave the wrong definition to a word that you believed people you disliked created. |

I thought this pertinent. https://lawyerssecularsociety.wordpr...n-absurd-term/ |

You want the word to have that definition so you can dismiss it every single time, and that’s why we’ve had this convo. |

I haven’t explained to him how he was wrong, whats your excuse? |

I wonder who should I believe has more credibility when it comes to an opinion on this - this clearly educated, intelligent and informed man who has given a very clear description of the whys and where fore’s or Withano. A very hard decision indeed! |
Khan signed off on a large inflatable baby with Trump's face on it to be flown outside Parliament while the leader of the free world visited. Childish and insulting, whatever you think of Trump. So really, he can hardly complain about this or he's going to look ridiculously duplicitous. And all the furore about the pig in connection with Islam... Please. It isn't a real pig, you know that, right? If they'd have thrown a pig's head at Khan I could understand the outrage. Instead, lots of non-Muslims are prepared to be outraged on Khan's behalf because it suits their agenda.
|
What would the pig signify though?... What is the connotation?
It's meant to be an insult and a nod to his religion ergo it is Islamophobic. Nothing do do with Kahn as a person. This 'signing off' issue has to be addressed... there is no reason whatsoever why it couldn't be signed off... it wasn't obstructive, or pornographic, it broke no law and was applied for via the correct procedure. There would've been more of an issue should it not have been allowed as that would be against the democratic right to protest. Yes I see some think it's childish and insulting and yet I have heard very childish and insulting comments from trump himself ... so why would anyone have to pander to someone who exhibits so little respect for so many people? Kahn, should he have had the final say ( which I highly doubt) was right to allow the balloon it's a visual metaphor... many are aggrieved that the leader of the free world is so unstatesmanlike. trump politics are more alien here than any immigrant. Our PM has never taken to twitter in the early hours for a rant... refused to talk with members of the press at a press conference or made disparaging comments about other world leaders. He may be an old man but he's a very young president... who has no idea how to conduct himself accordingly. |
