London Mayor Sadiq Khan Blimp to fly over London (Sat 1/9/18)

https://news.sky.com/story/sadiq-kha...stunt-11485378

why ever not

starts 9:30AM Saturday

[Almost £60,000 has been raised for an enormous blimp of Sadiq Khan
to fly over London in a bid to oust the mayor from office.
It comes a month after a similarly huge balloon depicting a
spray-tanned Donald Trump in a nappy with a smartphone soared above
the capital during his first presidential trip to the UK.]

[Now, protesters on the other side of the ongoing row
between the two politicians have plans in place to hit back.]

I can remember a lot of the Trump supporters calling it childish and looking down on those that organised it but they were all for the Sadiq balloon.

The word of the day today is: Hypocrisy

I dont agree with this either, but Khan has set the precedent so can hardly complain

Mokka 30-08-2018 02:56 PM

Why is he in a bikini? Where's the joke in It?

Like with Trump... there was a connection to the baby out fit... it wasn't done just because. People identified Trump as a big baby? Is your London mayor connected to this bikini somehow?

the Joke - The mayor never has a bikini on.

Yes he is silly to reply to Trumps tweets
he should ignore Trump

I don't mind the blimp flying, it's freedom of speech as long as it's not a health risk. I just take issue with the people who were against the Trump blimp supporting this, that is just plain hypocrisy to me.

They should either be for both or against both, they can't pick and choose.

Oliver_W 30-08-2018 03:07 PM

I'm guessing the "joke" is that he banned bikini posters on the underground...? Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit, and it's literally just "lol a man in a bikini"

Either way, wouldn't he have to approve its flight anyway?

He can hardly say no

Withano 30-08-2018 03:26 PM

Why? What message are they trying to send to him/Londoners?

I'm guessing he could. He won't win over anyone who is pushing for the balloon of him anyways... and I doubt he'd lose any votes from those who protested Trump.

This middle ground stuff looks weak... and that is what makes politicians lose their positions

Beso 30-08-2018 03:29 PM

Waste of bloody money.

jaxie 30-08-2018 03:39 PM

As silly and childish as the Trump one and what a waste of money. It would have been better donated to charity.

Well I find both childish but people certainly can and do pick and choose.

arista 30-08-2018 04:03 PM

The mayor will let it go up,
he has said he does not mind.
its going up around the mayors office
so its no a major crowd problem

To show the mayor how silly blimps are, they’ve made a blimp?

Northern Monkey 30-08-2018 04:17 PM

I don’t think they should. They’ll look as pathetic as the anti Trump protesters who were a laughing stock when they did it.

The Mayor has said
so long as the Police approve it
it can go ahead

Yeah he kind of walked into this by approving the Trump one.

I do think it’s childish though.

That people think he is a bit of a knob basically. Nothing overly deep

Kizzy 30-08-2018 05:21 PM

Wonder if the same company made both blimps? Bonus year for single use plastics.

£58,000 for 2hrs too, was the counter protest worth it?... the message seems a little disjointed tbh. And the nose?...Antisemitism?

Mitchell 30-08-2018 05:25 PM

Pmsl his response was rhat yellow isn’t his colour :joker:

Alf 30-08-2018 05:32 PM

I suppose it takes the focus of the murders which seem to be happening daily now in Khans London.

Yes that what he just said on London News BBC1
he crowd funded the project.

The Mayor
stated if that what people want to do on Saturday
its up to them.

And the reduction in the police numbers have nothing to do with the rise in crime?... there's your focus.

Could someone attempt to explain how who the mayor has been in recent months could affect the crime rate so dramatically?...

arista 30-08-2018 05:55 PM

It's Make London Safe Again
Campaign Fella.
behind the Blimp.

Paid for by Crowd Funding.

If people were more civilised and stopped murdering other people, then the Police cuts would be a good thing.

And with rising poverty how is that possible? Higher rates of socioeconomic deprivation = higher crime. That's how society works, people essentially become considerably less 'civilised' over a protracted period of time.

Again how would who the mayor has been over recent months effectively immediately reverse that trend?

Has he brought back stop and search yet, or is that still racist?
