Ryan telling a POC they can’t talk about race

And that it doesn’t matter... Feel like this needs it be discussed more
what an ignorant twat

Mitchell 03-09-2018 08:30 PM

Using the phrase “the brown card” was disturbing

Denver 03-09-2018 08:30 PM

If it was someone who wasn't loved they would be attacked

Jase. 03-09-2018 08:31 PM

Yeah...wtf

montblanc 03-09-2018 08:31 PM

awful

it was kind of uncomfortable to watch tbh

Greg! 03-09-2018 08:31 PM

I would be pissed off too if he always bloody brought it up for no reason

Matthew. 03-09-2018 08:31 PM

yeah i kinda went off him a bit just then

such a shame because i was really starting to like him a lot

MTVN 03-09-2018 08:31 PM

Yeah very out of order

Hardeep was just looking to discuss the perfectly valid topic of racism in football. Apparently that's off limits to talk about because Ryan doesn't like it :umm2:

Elliot 03-09-2018 08:31 PM

The way he worded it was bizarre, but uh I don’t think it was bad intended

With all due respect you are a white male so you don't understand what life as a POC is

lewis111 03-09-2018 08:32 PM

I’m assuming race impacts Hardeep’s life on almost a daily basis so he has the right to discuss whenever he wants

this

Beso 03-09-2018 08:32 PM

It explains his friendship with sally.

Niamh. 03-09-2018 08:33 PM

Isn't he mixed race himself though? But yeah either way he shouldn't be telling anyone not to talk about it

Maybe not but the HMs say he always brings it up and if I was in there I could see myself getting annoyed by it. You go in BB for a laugh, not to talk about serious topics 24/7

RileyH 03-09-2018 08:34 PM

Him & Dan going in on him over it was tough to watch and I can't stand him :umm2:

i thought this too

Swan 03-09-2018 08:35 PM

No, wait, i don't give a **** about Ryan, he was right, brown, white, black, WE ARE ALL HUMANS! Stop bringing up race when it's not needed.

We are HUMAN BEINGS. Isn't this attitude what we strive for?

But as an Asian Male in Scotland where there are not as many POC as the rest of the UK he will clearly have daily impacts and from what has been showed he always brought it up with validation

Black Dagger 03-09-2018 08:35 PM

He's a bit of a bellend tbh, he's just winning due to the OTT reaction to Roxanne.

Race impacts Hardeep's life though he has every right to talk about it, Ryan shouldn't be annoyed or tell him race shouldn't matter to them.

Yeah like I kinda felt for Ryan Ik people who unironically being race into everything and sometimes it’s just gah

Alf 03-09-2018 08:37 PM

I've been told before that I'm not allowed to talk about it. So I feel Hardeep's pain.

lewis111 03-09-2018 08:37 PM

He wasn’t even like “using the race card” he was talking about race in football
That’s just the same as like talking about women in politics which was talked about a lot last season and no one was accused of using the women card

MTVN 03-09-2018 08:37 PM

He wasn't bringing race into everything though, he was asking Jermaine as a black player about his experience of racism in football. What's wrong with that? It's a pretty well discussed topic

Elliot 03-09-2018 08:38 PM

Apparently he does it all the time

Also he said Ryan couldn’t tak about it bc white (when like no and also he’s not)

Swan 03-09-2018 08:40 PM

The point of progression is to not factor in race, colour. In order to move forward we need to see past this. Every race, every Religion.

Problem is, we can't get past race, when race stops being a big deal, race will stop being a big deal.

Think about that for a moment.

lewis111 03-09-2018 08:42 PM

Race won’t stop being a big deal when people stop talking about it though, or even when people “use the race card”
It will stop being a big deal when racism no longer exists

Elliot 03-09-2018 08:43 PM

It’s more just living in a house with someone that brings up the race card 24/7 not racism as a topic

BBDodge 03-09-2018 08:47 PM

POC telling another POC...

Epic. 03-09-2018 09:03 PM

Here for him making the top 2 because of this and beating Ryan in the final vote

But from what I gather Hardeep talks a lot about Race ,so it's obviously boring for the other housemates. Bare in mind we're only seeing an edited version.

When there's nothing to do most of the day I bet they do go over the same topics sometimes, if you don't like it then just don't join in the conversation. Hardeep is very into politics and social issues, Ryan probably is not and that's fine but you shouldn't try to shut down someone like that and demean something that they are interested in by saying he's 'playing the brown card'

lewys 03-09-2018 09:11 PM

he's had one warning he deserves ejection now !! justice for rodrigo

That is not really the point though, Hardeep was asking Jermaine about racism in football, and Ryan decided it was a no go topic of conversation, he had a go at Hardeep yesterday for doing the same thing with him and Kirstie

Elliot 03-09-2018 09:11 PM

Also yeah hardeep is one of those peolle that comes on so strong with their political opinions and I couldn’t stand living with that. Like god how pushy he was with his convo with kirstie early in the series

Robodog 03-09-2018 09:12 PM

Ryan probably means this:

Interviewer: How we gonna get rid of racism?

Morgan Freeman: Stop talking about it! I'm gonna stop calling you 'a white man' and i'm gonna ask you to stop calling me 'a black man'. I know you as Mike Wallace, you know me as Morgan Freeman.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2d2SzRZvsQ

Basically - seeing people as individuals, not as categories. That is what non-racism looks like.

That just about sums it up.
Not forgetting that Ryan will have come across this issue in his own life.
