How petty is madonna :skull:

https://www.wmagazine.com/story/lady...le-in-the-room

Claiming ownership of a catchphrase :skull:

Lit like in school when people would get angry if you “stole” jokes from them fhkgg

Petty bitch!

Niamh. 13-12-2018 01:38 PM

They both mean different things anyway. I'm sure loads of people have used "100 people in a room" type examples

LaLaLand 13-12-2018 01:39 PM

Petty but tbh Gaga has been mimicking Madge forever, probably because she's a fan like but Madge has probs snapped :laugh2:

"Born This Way" was basically "Express Yourself" like :skull:

I see Madonna as the Nigel Farage of the music world and Gaga as the Esther Mc Vey

Nigel has his own show on LBC and has met Trump and won brexit and McVey is just a milf

SO Gaga should shut her mouth

:oh:

Madonna is the Master of Plagiarism anyway.

All of her stuff was done by prettier and more talented women before her. (And after her too)

Not really any need for that kind of comment Marsh

I'm just saying :oh:

She modelled a lot of her early stuff on the likes of Marilyn Monroe but could never really pull it off.

she is a magpie
always seen her as more of a businesswoman than an artist
she's been shrewd to pick right producers and right songs, anticipate trends and borrow freely from others

Oliver_W 13-12-2018 03:35 PM

Neither are hugely original or interesting; Lady Gaga's the better singer of the two (she has a great voice sometimes) but she hides it by having a lot of awful songs, at least Madonna's stuff is mostly somewhere on the okay-good gradient.

DouglasS 13-12-2018 06:11 PM

Why are people still trying to make Lady Gaga relevant. Her music career died ages ago and now shes moved to movies because people were no longer interested in her music.

Nobody needs to try. She just is. :)

Not really. She was in a movie, wow. It was pretty much a fad anyway, The Greatest Showman a year on soundtrack is still outselling it, which isn't great

A film/it’s cast nominated for all the top awards at every major film festival so far = a fad

Lots of films that are not very successful get nominated for these things. Success and popularity are what makes money and makes you relevant, not indie awards/awards in general.

Ok well it’s in the top ten grossing films of the year in UK/Aus & Ireland, not to mention countless other European countries and #11 in the US so try again I guess

The soundtrack is doing complete average, it was not a hit. The movie also did pretty average. There haven't been many big films out this year and shes still not top 10, it's not exactly great for a Bradley Cooper film [as he sold it lets be real here]
None of the songs will have the longevity of even half of The Greatest Showman songs, nor will the movie/soundtrack have the same impact or even close to it.

DouglasS 13-12-2018 07:21 PM

Will Lady Gaga be relevant again?

I LOVE Madonna but I’ll never understand the double standard of if someone does something similar to her, it’s plagiarism/copying, but if she does something similar to someone else it’s her ‘taking inspiration’? Like??

The soundtrack is one of the most successful soundtracks since Frozen, the movie has made nearly 10 times its budget back, the film’s been nominated for a bunch of Golden Globes, and it’s tipped to be nominated for heaps of Oscars. What are you on about?

Predicting whether something has longevity or not is pointless because we won’t know until we get there on anything.

Amy Jade 13-12-2018 07:36 PM

It's a bit embarrassing at this point in her career to call Lady Gaga a fad. She's done incredibly well with music and her acting has come on leaps and bounds and she has been highly praised for A Star Is Born.

I am not even a fan per say but she is brilliantly talented.

Well after just a week it had more longevity than any of Madge's piss poor attempts at acting.

Then again she pisses all over her musically too as she can actually sing.

Madonna still dressing like a slut at 60 doesn't make her anymore relevant.

Madonna was relevant for 25 years though, Lady Gaga was for about 4. I'm not even a fan of either, but only one of them can be called a superstar..

She was okay around the Fame era, it was a good album. It's the only album with good songs and multiple hits, all the others under performed in some way. She was relevant 2008-2012:wavey:.

Oliver_W 13-12-2018 08:17 PM

it's an interesting dichotomy how Lady Gaga is a great singer but most of her songs (apart from the majority of The Fame) are crap, while Madonna is a mediocre singer but has some awesome songs.

And yeah, at this point it's clear Gaga can survive without her cringey gimmicks.
