Emiliano Sala: Fears Cardiff player on crashed plane

here is "genuine concern" Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala was on a flight which disappeared between France and Cardiff.

It is feared the Argentine striker was one of two people on board the Piper Malibu, which disappeared off Alderney on Monday night.

Cardiff City, which signed the 28-year-old from French club Nantes on Saturday, said it was "seeking clarification" as to what happened.

A search is under way.

Cardiff Airport confirmed the aircraft was due to arrive from Nantes but a spokeswoman said there were no further details.

HM Coastguard said the disappearance was not in the UK search and rescue area, but it had sent two helicopters to help.

A spokeswoman said they were assisting Guernsey Coastguard with a search for a light aircraft off Alderney: "HM Coastguard helicopters from Solent and Newquay have been helping to search overnight with nothing found."

The search and rescue operation had to deal with worsening conditions as they scoured the area on Monday night.

It's been confirmed he was on the flight and is feared dead

Such sad news and hopefully as doing up as it seems he is still alive, such a talented young man

A number of floating objects were seen in the water but they were unable to be confirmed as parts of the Aircraft

There has been unconfirmed reports that he told freinds he feared the plane journey

It was always his dream to live in Britain and Play in the premier league which makes it even more heart breaking

It took 4 attempts for the plane to get off the runway so how the hell was it allowed to take off and why did nobody stop it from taking off??

Horrible news.

Just don't understand why people risk small planes instead of something safer.

So an audio has come out of him telling his dad he is scared he will die on the plane

He also said the plane looked like it would fall apart

Who ever organised the flight must take full responsibility

I know it's really tasteless to even ask but - in the event he has perished in this - what happens regarding the transfer? The money presumably has been paid and contract signed, but forking out millions (or, on Nantes' part, accepting it) for someone who literally died 3 days later is unheard of.

As I said I know it's stupid to even think of such a thing, but from a footballing stance this is a cruel blow to Cardiff / their transfer window from a pragmatic POV.

Anyway, typing all of that made me feel gross and tactless, so I'll reiterate my sadness at what is most likely his passing. How many others were aboard?

He will have been insured poor lad, so sad to see his signing interview and last picture with Nantes

There were 2 on the plane in total I believe. I once flew in a 2 seater as a passenger and didn't have particular confidence in the pilot as he was an amateur enthusiast. It was a very scary experience that will never be repeated.

They are looking into the possibility he escaped on a raft

This is such a sad story,I suppose it is asking for a miracle that he is safe,but from what we see and hear it looks like no happy ending,poor guy.

They have said they are have 4 possible outcomes and are prioritising the idea they are on a raft that was on board so hopefully we will get good news

What a horrible story. I really hope he and his pilot are found, as unlikely as that seems.

There is a lifeboat searching the coast of Jersey after debris was spotted

There is an option the plane sank and if they were on board it will be hard to recover bodies

Would be amazing if they were found, the weather conditions are against them though

So it's been said if they can't find the Aircraft it will limit the chances of finding them at all especially if they sunk with the plane.

That must be really scary for the families that they may not even get a body let alone them being alive

They most likely wont continue searching tomorrow and he is believed to be dead.

I hope if he is dead they send divers out to recover the bodies as their families deserve the chance to say goodbye.

Also his agent has confirmed her sorted the flight out and got the 1st plane avaible.

But experts believe the Plane should not have been flown because it can't deal with the weather and it most likely crashed because the engine was blocked with ice

wow, why not put him on a commercial flight, looks like they put him on a heap of junk and this cant be confirmed now as they most likely wont be able to recover the wreckage
