Behind Her Eyes

Quote:

Netflix has ordered the adaptation of Sarah Pinborough's best-selling psychological thriller Behind Her Eyes – so prepare for a killer twist and bedtime with the lights on after viewing.

The six-part series follows the story of Louise, a hard-working single-mother who is supporting her son with a part-time job in a psychiatrist's office. Her world is thrown off-kilter when she begins an affair with her new boss David and matters take an even stranger turn when she's drawn into an unlikely friendship with his wife Adele.

What starts as an unconventional love triangle soon becomes a dark, psychological tale of suspense and twisted revelations, as Louise finds herself caught in a dangerous web of secrets where nothing and no-one is what they seem.

Ahhhhh the book was so good, Netflix better do it justice

I hate when they tell you there's a "killer twist" though, it ruins the surprise of twists when you're looking for one.....I will still watch

Without the warning of a killer twist though, would you not be expecting a killer twist, in which case this cannot ruin the surprise of a killer twist :suspect:

She means even if it didn’t say there was a twist, would not expect one anyone bc most shows have them nowadays

Smithy 17-02-2021 02:43 PM

It’s honestly such a good twist I was so gagged when i read it

Not all shows do. It must be just me, once I know there's a twist I spend the whole time watching it trying to figure out what it is and a lot of times I figure it out and that's really disappointing

Vicky. 17-02-2021 02:47 PM

I don't think I have ever seen a crime type show that does not have a twist. Besides the true crime ones. And even them sometimes have one added for suspense

Will add this to my watchlist anyway, though knowing its a book makes me want to read it first, as generally speaking, the books are 100x better than the tv adaptations.

Smithy 17-02-2021 02:50 PM

Can one of yall update the title to just Behind Her Eyes too, it still says “Netflix Orders Adaptation of...” thanks :hee:

I changed it, it said it on the thread title when you click into the thread but not on the title when it's just on the TV Chat list

Vicky. 17-02-2021 02:58 PM

Oh, assumed he had  Prob not yet

Smithy 17-02-2021 02:58 PM

I’ve only watched the first ep so far, if I finish it in the next couple of days I’ll let you know!

Smithy 17-02-2021 02:58 PM

-will probably finish it tonight-

Niamh. 18-02-2021 09:12 AM

I watched the first 4 episodes last night, here's my prediction (I hope I'm wrong) :

Spoiler:

I think Adele killed Robert and what she's actually holding over David is that he dumped his body down the well to protect her. I think she may also have started the fire that killed her parents. I think she bought the heroin to overdose Louise (the last we saw of her was when she was in Adeles house thinking she had OD'd. I think she probably did similar to the woman in the cosy cafe in Brighton.

That's all very predictable so I hope I'm totally wrong. The only bit that's a bit weird though and making me think I might be wrong is that in Louises nightmare it seems like she's in a burned manor house like Adele's family home which would be odd because she wouldn't have known about that house to have nightmares about it or maybe she's predicting the future and Adele will bring her there I don't know. Also what's the story with Adele dreaming she was in the room with David and Louise and that's how she knew about their affair hhhmmmm

Anyway good show so far, I hope the ending doesn't let me down

Spoiler:

It seemed like she was travelling out of her body watching David?

Niamh. 18-02-2021 10:23 AM

Spoiler:

Using her dream door to go where ever she wanted kind of?

Niamh. 18-02-2021 10:28 AM

Yeah definitely, we got through 4 episodes last night and they're almost an hour long each

as a side note, that actress who plays Louise is really good, haven't seen her before I don't think

Smithy 18-02-2021 11:13 AM

No spoilers from me :hehe:

But glad you’re enjoying it :hee:

Ammi 18-02-2021 02:00 PM

...I love the soundtrack for this.....

Spoiler:

...maybe because I’ve just watched Sucker Punch so will probably be completely off key atm...but it’s feeling a bit like Adele and Louise are both his patients and maybe still in the mental health care home even and the whole story is in their dreams ...and he’s meducating them to control them and maybe abuse them...and their medication is giving them night terrors...Louise, may be self harming with the wounds on her arms...

Niamh. 18-02-2021 02:02 PM

How much have you watched Ammi? (just checking if I can open your spoiler or not?)

Smithy 18-02-2021 02:34 PM

You can open it, it’s nothing more than where you’re up to

rusticgal 18-02-2021 02:39 PM

Was it good though?

Oh damn, I wish I hadn't opened it now, that sounds very plausible :fist:

Smithy 18-02-2021 03:25 PM

Just finished it, as adaptations go it was a very good one, there are a few differences to the book and a few things that hint towards the end that don’t appear in the book

(Actual spoilers)

Spoiler:

In the books you don’t find out that Rob is gay until the swap, which is what makes it such an :o moment

Also in the show in the final ep you obviously see the blue ball watching the green ball enter Adele and the blue ball in the earlier ep was rob, so that’s sort of a giveaway if you’re paying close attention :eyes:

Also in the book Adele kills the cat :omgno:

Niamh. 18-02-2021 03:34 PM

I'm going to finish it tonight

Ammi 18-02-2021 06:10 PM

...oh, I’d forgotten to post which episode it was and I can’t recall but I think maybe episode 2 so quite early....but though...spoiler for episode 4...

Spoiler:

...so Adele is a drug addict and that’s why she was in the care home and that’s why David asked Lou about the local area...to find out where someone would get drugs...maybe it wasn’t part of the reason for her to be in the clinic...maybe it was through spending time with Rob in there when she became addicted...?...but and I still think that David is medicating them and that if Adele is an addict, he maybe supplying her drugs ....I’m a bit confused, actually..and did David burn his arm because he started the fire and killed her parents so that she would inherit and he’d planned to marry her to have that inheritance or control it...but he had told her the story that he had saved her and she believed him because she had had no awareness at the fire starting time/...had been high on drugs.etc...?....hmmmmm...
