British cultural figures urge BBC to boycott Eurovision in Israel

Messy.

Cherie 30-01-2019 07:13 PM

Unreal, why is it always the UK that has to make a stand, this is an entertainment show, yes it is being held in Israel because guess what they participated in the show last year, and their entry won, go and urge the producers Eurovision to ban this one and that one from entering if you really are that bothered, why just the BBC ...just sod orf!

I'd imagine because it's British people doing the urging so are urging their own country?

Its about 3 people from what I can see, so they can switch over in protest? and why not go to the show producers, this will be aired to millions so the Beeb not showing it is not going to make any difference whatsoever apart from making them feel good about themselves

Cherie 30-01-2019 07:19 PM

and calling themselves British cultural figures, could they get any more pretentious

Liam- 30-01-2019 07:29 PM

Stop trying to take good things away from us

bots 30-01-2019 07:36 PM

We demand the right to finish in the bottom 5, a position that has been hard earned and is rightfully ours :fist:

Oliver_W 30-01-2019 07:53 PM

Wow I wonder how many "protesters" Hamas will pay to get injured over this. For all the moaning, Palestinians living in Israel have it better than Palestinians living in Palestine.

Beso 30-01-2019 08:29 PM

Yeah cause all the palastinians are glued to the telly for this..they can't wait to watch all the gayness..it's what they live for....

Hamas leaders probably think Britain's made a pop song for their exit from Europe and Gabriel no happy cause geldof got the gig again.

Denver 30-01-2019 08:32 PM

Blame Jeremy Corbyn he will most likely support this

Beso 30-01-2019 08:35 PM

On this occasion all I can say is; KEEP POLITICS OUT OF EUROVISION.

Yes OK I know the voting is often political but other than that, surely the whole point of Eurovision is that everyone forgets about the political issues and a gets together for a big ridiculous party. I mean we've had countries literally at war with each other in Eurovision... and also the "winner hosts" thing has been upheld in all sorts of ****ing dodgy locations... so this is all a bit daft really. If Israel won, Israel hosts, and political discussion is for another day :fist:.

amen

it is being held in Tel Aviv, and not in Jerusalem which was the reason for the boycott tbh, too close to the warzone

now it isn't too close to that, and there are loads of lovely Israëli's who are big esc fans

keep politics out of eurovision, this contest is for our fun, entertainment

yes people are suffering, but eurovision there can be also bit of fun for those innocent israeli people who need a bit of distraction from all that violence and war

Jerusalem was a no no for me as well, too close to a warzone is not safe, but Tel Aviv is a good location, also good for tourism in tel aviv, to host a eurovision contest there

arista 31-01-2019 07:28 AM

"we cannot ignore Israel’s systematic violation of Palestinian human rights,” it reads."

But they do Ignore that

But they do Ignore that

correct, they just want the BBC to pay lip service to make themselves feel better about ignoring it

Nicky91 31-01-2019 07:55 AM

Peter Gabriel, Vivienne westwood signing this petition :yuk: i don't support those 2 anymore

Nicky91 31-01-2019 08:00 AM

oh well it is just bad reputation now for those who signed this petition

i will Judge the UK on their song in May, if i like the song it will get a good respectable position in my ranking, if i don't like the song it will end in my bottom 5

true what you say btw, but that is more neighbour voting

Black Dagger 31-01-2019 08:21 AM

Bunch of busy bodies with their faux outrage. Don't remember anybody piping up over Russia hosting in 2009 or even Belarus for Junior earlier in the year.

It's been effortless so far this year.

Six bland songs out of a possible 6 songs to choose from, a new low even for the UK.

I was replying to your "why is it always the UK that has to make a stand" question :p

user104658 31-01-2019 08:55 AM

The real question on everyone's lips is "are Jedward in it this year"... which is a major factor in me actually watching it tbh.
