Alexandra Burke 'DROPPED' from her record label due to Failure

Cant buy a hit

Alexandra Burke has reportedly been dropped from her record label after her most recent album only made it to No 16 in the UK chart.

She is said to have split from her label Decca, after releasing her third album The Truth Is with the team in March last year, reports The Sun.

Former Strictly contestant Alexandra also split with her last two labels, Syco and RCA, after releasing an album with each of them.

She's the prime example of soulless manufactured X Factor tat, and has been since her first smirking rendition of Hallelujah.

Smithy 31-01-2019 11:47 AM

Her label was crap and so was the album, she’s super talented so no doubt she’ll get another one if that’s what she wants

armand.kay 31-01-2019 12:04 PM

it would be cute if she did a few musicals

arista 31-01-2019 12:09 PM

Maybe she is giving up on Quality Music,

bots 31-01-2019 12:11 PM

my impression is that people just don't like her, so it doesnt really matter how good a singer she is, people just wont buy from someone they don't like

She was phenomenal in Sister Act

Twosugars 31-01-2019 01:40 PM

let's leave Fergie out of this

Livia 31-01-2019 02:14 PM

I don't know anyone who likes her.

I saw Beverley Knight as Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard... Alexandra Burke can only wish....

really

what is her talent?

it cant be as a pop singer as her albums and singles keep tanking

Oliver_W 31-01-2019 02:35 PM

Didn't the "okay dot com" thing pretty much tank her career?

her talent is her voice
she could probably sing anything apart from bel canto
you know very well that most singers don't write their stuff
so while she's not without blame for her career flop it's mostly down to management
as to her likeablity, I like her, but she does come across as needy
but that's to do with her lack of confidence not lack of talent, i.e her voice

lol

there are good singers in every town in the UK, common as dog sh1te in a park

talented people have hits not expensive vanity projects

Tom4784 31-01-2019 03:08 PM

She's always had bad management. She could do with getting a new team that will do a better job of promoting her.

Diana Vickers woz robbed.

...in all seriousness though, Alexandra Burke has a technically great voice but she's bland as ****. She was on the show, and she has been since. I swear Hallelujah is one of the most hollow tracks ever released. A vapid, sucking void of a song.

She was amazing in Sister Act aswell so I have high hopes for her in The Bodyguard.

One may say a perfect choice for such a girl.

Oh the song itself is fine when I've heard it sung by pretty much anyone else... it's specifically her version that's bad.

Niamh. 31-01-2019 09:46 PM

No doubt she has a great voice but I found her way too melodramatic and annoying on X Factor plus there's not much character to her voice, I like a bit of character in a singer

Exactly... she's no doubt quite well suited to musical theatre for that reason. In musical theatre the voice is an instrument in a larger show so it just has to be someone who can sing well live / has good control over their voice... the entertainment is that it's a whole show.

For releasing music singles and albums, especially as a solo artist, a great voice just isn't enough. The voice and the singer has to BE the show... so either the voice itself has to have something unique about it, or the person has to be charismatic and interesting in which case being a technically amazing singer doesn't even matter that much.

Ironically, that's the whole "X Factor" concept :joker:. She just doesn't have The X Factor, despite having a great voice.

Yeah agree. If you look at Liam Gallagher for example, he doesn't have a technically great voice but it's very unique and I just like the sound of it, he's also a very interesting individual to watch and listen to..........love or hate him

Strictly Jake 01-02-2019 09:53 AM

Aww bless her. I loved her on the x factor and she has a great voice she does doesn't come across as likeable to everyone and hasn't had a hit for a while but

Broken heels. Start without you. Bad Boys. All great songs!

Amy Jade 01-02-2019 09:54 AM

People dragging her like she didn't have a great start out with amazing songs like Bad Boys, Broken Heels and Start Without You. Yeah her last album was a flop but it's not like she's had some decent music for sure.

armand.kay 01-02-2019 11:23 AM

i don't get why she's being dragged she literally minds her own business and sings

Which is bland. I don't think anyone has said anything personal about her, I'm sure she's a perfectly nice person but she's not an interesting act, it's soulless manufactured junk and her sales reflect that .

I'd agree with this, talented woman but there was nothing interesting about her Music imo.

A shame for her though, hopefully she'll find another label.

Kylie went through a low period when her record company dumped her when her album sold something like 5 copies ..... and look what happened to her
