Ricky Gervais's new, dark comedy series, "Afterlife" starts on Netflix at 8am in the morning UK time. 3am New York time and midnight, LA time.

That was a funny scene with the rice pudding made out of breast milk, and him boking when his mate was guzzling it down.

Overall, it was OK but The Office is still his best work.

It had lots of office undertones. Working at a newspaper company... a job that is a dying industry. Humour very similar obviously.

I did like it better than Derek... or really any of his most recent works.
I really enjoyed it !

Watched the first episode and it was just... a bit too heavy on the insults and unnecessary attacks of every random character. Felt more of a chore to watch than anything moving/comedic. I do love the cast, though, so will watch the rest at some point... just didn't grab me in any way like some of Gervais' other work. I see he's gone for another Derek route: focusing more on the seriousness of it all than any of the...comedy.

Like I didn't see any point of spending so much on scenes with him lambasting that newspaper delivery guy, or the postman, or his colleague, or the guy who told him off for not leashing his dog. It was very one-note and felt like padding for time. Could understand if it was funny, but everyone was just a fat **** or a fat twat. :shrug:

Only laugh in the episode was his comeback to the ginger kid calling him a paedo.

Watched the first episode and I really liked it

we watched 3 eps back to back last night and loved it

Finished it all, loved it. It was hilarious and sad at the same time

Watched the first one today, thought it was hilarious but very sad at points too

Finished it. I did grow to like it but I had one main problem with the show and that was its treatment of Julian.

You didn't cry did you, Matthew?

I like a bit of pathos in comedies, but I don't like comedy writers that go out their way to deliberately make you cry. It is a comedy after all, and the point is to make you laugh.

Just watched last 3. Was in tears through last episode - literally what I went through with my dad. Brilliant series, just brilliant

Put episode 1 on for a laugh and it's putting me in a stinking mood. :(

Yes the critics had to pick on stuff but I'm not a critic, I just watched and enjoyed.

I was saying in another thread, I found this season a lot sadder than the first. We watched the whole season in one sitting

Still not hitting the mark for me.

I preferred series 1 but I like how they are exploring his relationship with people more this series

My dad was the same as Joe, same level of awareness and died the same so it hits harder. The nurses at the care home were all rough as old boots Stirling tearaways, nothing like Ashley Jensen :(

Plus I never knew any prossies

Series 3 has been confirmed by Netflix with potentially more series after Ricky Gervais has signed a multi year mega deal

Didn’t enjoy the first 2 episodes much...I found the psychiatrist a bit too much. However the rest of the series was fab. Very sad as I recently lost my mum in the same way he lost his dad. He really does hit the mark with his thoughts and feelings...had a few tears.
Sometimes it’s unnecessary vulgarity..but the majority is so meaningful.

Title should be two words. :hmph:

The women sent their accusations anonymously to Bafta and Netflix on Monday, and the story was first reported by Broadcast.

Mr Hanson has been suspended from production of After Life, with filming for the third series currently underway.

Netflix said in a statement: "Whilst the allegations are unrelated to his time on the show, we immediately removed him from the production and referred the matter to the police."

Gervais said: "I am shocked and appalled to learn of the historical allegations made by a number of women against Charlie Hanson.

"The decision was made to immediately remove him from production and I am confident the matter is being handled thoroughly."

The Golden Globe and Bafta-winning producer has worked on several of Gervais' critically-acclaimed British projects, including 2016's David Brent: Life on the Road film.

Mr Hanson's agents, United Agents, said they are not currently working with him and have removed his profile from their website.

"We were shocked to learn of the historic allegations. Whilst this matter is investigated we have suspended our representation of him," United Agents said.

Bafta said it had been given a number of "very serious detailed allegations" against an individual.

"While we are not their employer we immediately took the decision to suspend their membership," the group said.

"Bafta is an arts charity and does not have the power to investigate historic claims of abuse therefore we have referred the matter to the police.

"The behaviour that these accounts allege is abhorrent, in complete opposition to Bafta values and has no place in our industry."

Mr Hanson said in a statement via his lawyer: "I have been made aware of allegations made against me concerning improper conduct towards women dating back many years.

"Based on the summaries that have been provided to me, I understand that many of these accusations are made anonymously and are demonstrably false.

"I have not had one complaint in decades of work in the media industry. I categorically reject any wrongdoing on my part, and strongly refute the allegations that have been levelled at me.

"I have worked with and supported hundreds of men and women during my working life and will do what is necessary to protect and/or restore my reputation.

"I will also cooperate with any formal inquiries. The matter is now in the hands of my solicitors."

The BBC - which has worked with Mr Hanson in the past, including on Extras - said: "The BBC is against all forms of inappropriate behaviour.

"We would of course take appropriate action if any specific allegations are put to the BBC about any individual."

I haven't actually watched series 2 yet , but that's gross and disappointing about the creator.

It feels like there's loads of perverts in this industry.

He's just one of the producers. Gervais is the creator.
