MPs, Councillors and Party canvassers get branded they don't care or never bother if they never appear to talk to people.
Then get moaned at or ridiculed when they do. As someone who has canvassed in elections for years. It's still sometimes daunting knocking at someone's door, being apprehensive of the greeting or lack of you're going to get. Or even unnecessary abuse. All very sad. |

Ahah I think I have been put on a blacklist for the home visists as whoever comes I go into rants about everything thats wrong with their party and that. Be them lib dems, tories or Labour. I haven't had any visists this year but in local elections I will vote Labour as our local MP is brilliant and does help and acknowledge probelms. General election though, currently I cannot vote and wil have to spoil my ballot :/

A fat lady mp just posted some thought my door and then slam the gate :fist::fist::fist:

Your MP was asking you to vote in local elections.
Are you sure he wasn't just a council candidate? |

I've started canvassing quite a bit this year. Honestly this idea that it's edgy or funny to have a go at people who are just trying to do something positive with their time and change their community is so tiresome. So often the same people who moan about politicians being out of touch are the same ones who slam the door in my face when I try and talk to them. |
"I'm frustrated that politicians don't listen to my concerns. Therefore I'm going to be agressive and abusive when they make the effort to come and ask me about my opinions!"

Canvassing has been part of electioneering since elections began. No need for ridicule or hostility on the doorstep. Have you a notice saying no cold callers etc. We wouldn't knock then. It is our time too, you know. |

However when you get the deceit ones thankfully it makes it worthwhile. Even when they disagree with us. It's nice to interact and I've had some wonderful chats with people I'll never forget. |

I had a tory candidate for mp canvassing in 2017, told him politely not to waste his time as we'll never vote tory, we exchanged smiles and off he went.
