Channel 5 era CBB Rankdown
Welcome to my Channel 5 era CBB rankdown; essentially it’s just going to be a ranking of each series from worst to best, from CBB8 all the way up to 22 with a write up for each. I’ve decided not to include Channel 4 CBBs, only because my memory is pretty hazy, I haven’t seen 1 + 2, and I haven’t watched 4, 6 and 7 since they first aired. So yeah, watch this space I guess :spin2: |
Ever since I made that unfinished CBB rank, I've always wanted more threads like this to exist :clap1:
you have a lot of bad series to deal with :skull: |

So, let’s get the ball rolling with our first series to be culled...
15th Place: Celebrity Big Brother 20 (2017) http://cdn.bbspy.co.uk/images/upload...0_eye_logo.jpg Most are probably going to disagree with me on this one, I’m sure. I’d imagine that the majority are probably of the same opinion in regards to series 20; boring, dull, tiresome with no real standout moments (a couple of showmances aside), but to place it at the bottom of the pile?! Seriously?!? Well, I’ve ranked it last for those exact reasons; it’s a “nothing” of a series. First things first, I don’t hate this series like I do a couple of others in this rankdown. 20 was completely inoffensive in comparison to, say, 18 (which you’ll be hearing about very soon) but I just can’t rank this series anything other than last. Nothing about 20 evokes an emotion. It was mundane, with nightly episodes being no different from the last. The “big” characters weren’t even much of note and they certainly weren’t series saving. -Rumoured for 5 years- Barry from Eastenders did nothing (launch night task aside, and the less said about that, the better), Karthik showed potential but was gone far too quickly, Trisha was a bit of a dick yet didn’t actually do an awful lot in terms of being a decent housemate, the JAM nonsense was tripe.. You can see where I’m going here. Sarah was a mess and a pretty good one at that, but she was lost on a series with not much else going on. There was a spark of hope with Brandi vs Sandi, which turned out to be as short lived as the fire drill caused by Paul Danan. Boring highlights coupled with arguably the worst & most damaging eviction order in the shows history equates to a pretty poor series if you ask me. Nominated: CBB8 | CBB9 | CBB10 | CBB11 | CBB12 | CBB13 | CBB14 | CBB15 | CBB16 | CBB17 | CBB18 | CBB19 | CBB21 | CBB22 Evicted: CBB20 |
CBB20 is my least favourite C5 series too, good choice for first out :clap1;
|
It was so boring and a complete snoozefest.
|
I didnt mind it, Jemma saved it
|

Pretty much agree with everything said, but surely CBB18 is out next? I'd take something boring and mundane every night with small glimpses of hope than something that's just gonna painfully infuriate me start to finish

Yeah CBB18 out next please
|
21 is THE worst get her OUT :oh:
|
21 is way worse than this lololol at least we had chad and miss Sarah!
|
21 is trash but not the worst.
If I had to rank the 5 worst C5 CBB's of all time. 1. 18 2. 8 3. 20 4. 21 5. 11 20 and 21 are interchangeable for me. |
I also think CBB21 is slightly worse, at least in the boring department. There really were no amazing housemates even though it had an even bigger cast than CBB20

No surprises in regards to this one, I’m sure... BOOM!
14th Place: Celebrity Big Brother 18 (2016) https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20160729012700 2016 was shaping up to be a great year for Big Brother. The first celebrity edition in the winter showcased just how the series could still be a talking point amongst the nation, whilst the 17th civilian series proved to be a (somewhat) return to form, mainly due to its excellent cast (for the most part). Expectations for CBB18 were as they had been for every summer series preceding it; nowhere near as high as the standard January series, but high enough. Oh boy, were we wrong. You’d have thought that producers (or those in charge of casting) had remembered what had happened the last time they’d allowed a bullying tyrant to take centre stage of a series; Helen Wood won BB15 and the taste left in the majority of the mouths of Big Brother fans had been sour. Here we were again, history repeating itself. A series like BB15 was somewhat excusable, mainly due to rootable cast members being a distraction from Helen. Ashleigh, Danielle, Mark, Christopher, Toya and so on all proved to be provide a decent amount of talking points away from Miss Wood stomping around the place. CBB18 didn’t really have the same factor. Sure, Renee wasn’t bad, and Saira had a short but fulfilling enough stay, but the problem was that the majority of the cast were either (nearly) as grotesque as Bear (see Marnie, Lewis, Heavy D, Chloe Khan) or they were so wound up by Bear that they ended up playing into his hands and giving them what he craved most; attention. And I’m not blaming them, I want to make sure that’s clear. I’d be in exactly the same frame as mind as Ricky/Renee/Aubrey etc. But that doesn’t mean that it makes for a good series, and it didn’t. What you were left with were hour upon hour episodes of round the clock winding up by Bear (and sometimes company) followed by Renee, Ricky and Aubrey seething. Hardly sounds thrilling for one episode, let alone 30 or so. And again, Bear was rewarded for his behaviour, so it’s not like you can even say “well, at least good overcame evil in the end”. Because it didn’t. Compare this series to, say, series 20, and it’s the complete opposite. There was plenty going on but none of it made for pleasurable viewing. I think CBB18 may have been the first series I gave up watching a week or so before the final. It says a lot about a series when who you assume to be the most rootable housemate in Biggins turns out to be a biophobic nazi. Nominated: CBB8 | CBB9 | CBB10 | CBB11 | CBB12 | CBB13 | CBB14 | CBB15 | CBB16 | CBB17 | CBB19 | CBB21 | CBB22 Evicted: CBB20 | CBB18 |
Still annoys me that BB17's length was cut down for this crap :idc:

Truly an abysmal series. One that I could never rewatch even if you paid me.

Amazing write-up on what I think might be the worst series of any show period. You're lucky you quit a week or so before the final because the longer CBB18 was watched, the more rage it has. As it continued, it's seen less as a daily wind-up of people from the worst clique in the show, and more as psychological torment on innocent people stuck in an asylum where their only solidarity is a paycheck.
A character like Bear (and I use the term character by its absolute definition) often gets compared to the likes of other housemates cast to wind up others such as Helen, Marc, Lewis G, Lewis F, Maxwell, etc, but for all of those, they had rivalries where one or more people could set them straight on numerous occasions and leave them raging just as much. I still dislike all of those housemates but the damage they leave is repelled once you see nasty people like them get a taste of their own medicine, which rarely happened to him, which is why I think he's way worse and still my least favorite person to ever be on the show. And even if you don't count him at all, there's really nothing to salvage from CBB18. Like you said, there were so many unlikable people. It says a lot about how bad a cast is when someone like Heavy D wouldn't even be in my bottom 5 of them :skull: . The storylines were equally repetitive and nauseating. With the exception of Saira's intriguing love/hate relationship with everyone, there was Heavy D being a **** for a week, Lewis and Marnie's staged and pretentious relationship, Katie Waissel looking for attention in her last few days, and the rest was the filler from that nasally-voiced serial cheating cretin. Terrible series and a big reason to why the show got axed. |
y'all are so dramatic

I hope Steve Carson’s dressing room season is top 3
