Eh. While Shapiro didn't come off brilliantly, to say Neil "destroyed" him (like some comments claim) is pushing it a bit.

He kinda did. Shapiro thinks of himself as a smug tw*t with an answer for everything. He prides himself on the fact that he can debate many topics of the top of his head from memory. I havent seen him this agitated for quite a while:thumbs:

And the way he batted away Shapiro trying to label him a leftie made me laugh out loud. This wasnt the usual cable interview Shapiro is used to.

Shapiro is a moron and he's the worst kind of moron because he thinks he's the most clever person in the room when it truth he's an idiot that looks to play the victim the first chance he gets. Watching him stumble over the whole 'Fascist' thing was a delight as was the way that Andrew Neil effortlessly derailed his attempts to accuse the show of bias. The whole Palestinian thing was just the icing on top of the cake too, he just got completely undone by his own words and he knew it which is why he ran for the hills.

He's also the worst kind of pro-lifer because he doesn't really believe in the sanctity of life or that 'life begins at conception' it's all about taking control of women's bodies away from them and his support of the ridiculous Georgia abortion laws shows that.

Andrew Neil is a national treasure.

He didn't do his research at all, he tried all his usual tactics and they just fell apart so he ran.

Depends how you define "destroy" I guess. He certainly pissed Shapiro off, but he didn't do this by raising points he couldn't counter in a debate. It was mostly "here's something you said several years ago".

That said, it was fun to watch Shapiro get flustered, and say "Trump's presidential speek in 2012"

I actually laughed out loud at 13:00 in. The awkward few seconds of silence after the quote is read out :joker:.

To be fair, I think what he's specifically pointing out is that Shapiro has now taken it upon himself to critique the "anger that Americans have for each other", and that there is a (large) list of examples of Shapiro himself being a part of stoking up that anger in the first place - and not even a small part, he's been very widely heard.

Which is fine cuz Shapiro usually has a clever answer when read out old quotes.

Have you seen Shapiro destroy Piers Moragn on gun control when Morgan had his show in America? It was carnage and I think one the reasons why Piers never made it America on the cable news network. And Shapiro did it with a very smug smirk on his face. That smirk was missing in this Andrew Neil interview

i know we will disagree Oliver ..but his talk about Muslims....and palastenians is nothing short of shocking.I am a Boer growing up during Apartheid.When a man claims he is a man of God but that man's life is worth less than mine it is not pushing it to say it is hate preaching.

He hasn't spoke out against Palestine, he criticises the terrorists who run it. His talks about muslims are all backed up by polls and data etc., and he's never actually tarnished them all with the same brush.

If you had watched the video you'd know that's false Oliver because Neil reads out Shapiro quotes where he quite explicitly DOES talk about all Palestinians. He says now that he only "meant" the leadership: but that's certainly not what he said at the time.

He clearly has spoken about Palestinans...Listen to Andrew Neil iquoteing him from his own book....If you havent bothered to read Shapiros hate spach that Andrew Neil was quoing then there is no disscussion to be had here

Should also add Oliver.. Shapiro backtracked on insulting Arabs to saying he meant Palestestinans.But Hey he never spoke about them

You believe it's hate speech, but he believes that he's calling out murder.

I think both sides of the argument on this issue have strong cases.

Hate speech is free speech

The abortion debate is a debate. I happen to think that the "100% no questions asked pro life" approach is pretty abhorrent and totally wrong-headed (in that I don't think some people actually understand the potential harm, at all), but I can concede that it is nonetheless a debate.

Some of the things he's had to say about "Arabs" and Palestine is straight up hate speech. There's no two ways about it. The quote read out at 13m into the video:

"Israeli's like to build - Arabs like to bomb crap and live in open sewage."

"The Palestinian Arab population is rotten to the core"


He said the first quote, then later tried to take it back and say he "only meant Palestinians" (still hate speech) and NOW he's trying to say that he only meant "Hamas leadership"... but if you believe that you'll believe anything. He was quite clear in his choice of words and it's obvious what he meant. HE knows that it's hate speech too which is why he's tried so hard to "take it back" after being called out.

He went to try and clarify but stated he did indeed mean Palestine. 'Just Pals and their allies'

Science disagrees with claims of murder.

Outside of the womb, a 6 week old foetus cannot sustain life and it's not a sentient being, it's a bundle of cells and nothing more. If something is not sentient or capable of sustaining life (as in, it won't die instantly) then it's not alive. Life begins at birth, pro-lifers are hypocrites that care more about controlling women's bodies than the children that would be brought into the world as a result of archaic laws like the Georgia law.
