Do you work for a living?

Do you work full time, if not what do you do with your day?

Part time. Was doing 45+ hours a week up until last month as I am on a gap year awaiting to go to university in September. Then my hours got cut to 28 but with a little overtime it sits around the 31-32 hours a week mark. I’m fine with that as it’s nice to have a bit of a summer holiday before I embark on the next stage of my education!

Nope, but would ****ing love to. I can't at the min (and probably for a long time given docs have given up on fixing me :bored: ) but..I loved work. Karaokes were annoying sometimes, but it was overall fairly fun, especially being on 20-30 per hour. Bar work was, again annoying sometimes, but overall I loved it so much. So yeah, unemployed due to disability..

You have two primary school kiddies to look after that is a full time job in itself

Yeah, another downfall. I didn't mind doing late nights and lock ins (mind, I refused to serve anyone in the lockin unless they also bought me a drink as I didn't get paid for after 11pm..) but it was such a pain in the arse to get home. Until I moved above the pub I was working in of course! Don't know if I could deal with the 12 hour shifts and 4am finishes while I have the kids though..

Indeed. Honestly, a lot of the time I find being at home much much more stressful than I ever found work. At least I could have a crap at work without someone popping their head round the door to whinge that someone else has hit them with a spoon r something..

Not really if you find cheap places to rent, only if you actually buy property there

Strictly Jake 23-05-2019 11:09 AM

I work 2 part time jobs which is 7 hours a day so classes as full time between that I'm helping with the kids. Kids are harder than work! My wife is a full time mum and I wouldn't swap haha

The split shifts were a pain in the hole aswell. There's no way I would have been doing that with young kids either and you can't be doing lock ins every second night if you have smallies either. I always wanted to run my own pub because I actually really enjoyed the work itself but it would be a whole life style choice really and too restricting I think

Cal. 23-05-2019 11:14 AM

I used to think I wanted a pub when I first started working at my work but it’s the last possible thing I would choose as a full time career choice now. It just takes over your life. Your whole world is the pub.

Nicky91 23-05-2019 11:17 AM

used to work yeah

now i'm at home, and no i'm not lazy since i do plenty of chores in and around house :hee:

also got my own garden section i have to maintain, and recently i had to help carry old wood which was waiting to be removed, taking that away to the garbage sorter (green, grey, glass, wood sorting waste disposal area) i still have a bit of pain in my muscle from carrying that much heavy wood :worry:

caprimint 23-05-2019 11:25 AM

Pubs are fun though, you get to socialize and meet interesting people and sometimes the evenings are quite boring anyway so it's a good way of filling in the time

:joker: its true, you get a break at work at least

Shaun 23-05-2019 11:30 AM

0 hours contract so can go a whole week without work, and then have one where I work 60 hours  I need to look for something better

Yeah that was my plan..I actually still have a valid personal license. Think it runs out in 2 years or something.

Josy 23-05-2019 12:28 PM

I work full time hours only when we are busy or I'm helping out more etc no where near as much as I used to work though.

I wouldnt say I work for a living tbh my husband has a really good job and I don't *have* to work but I would hate sitting around doing nothing so I choose to, even though sometimes I moan like **** I still go [emoji23]

Kazanne 23-05-2019 12:55 PM

I work now as a teaching assistant for special needs children ,I do one full day and the rest of the week is part time ,but I love the job ,it's interesting , sometimes sad, sometimes happy , and I get the holidays off with my own children which is a bonus.

Lostie! 23-05-2019 01:03 PM

Work part time, average 20 hours a week but more whenever extra are available. Want something full time really though.

DouglasS 23-05-2019 01:11 PM

I work full time as an accountant. I like working because I love the people I work with so it doesn’t even feel like work to be honest. I guess I’m quite lucky

Jason. 23-05-2019 01:21 PM

Um I don't work and I still get to shop n all that

Sitting around at home and doing nothing would be the best job ever for me. :D

AnnieK 23-05-2019 01:39 PM

I work 40 hours over 4 days. The rest of my time is spent being a chauffeur to various football, athletics stuff for my son, saving penalties, timing runs etc etc. Work is the easier job
