Infraction Thread

Coming from the other thread, A suggestion is to make an infraction thread instead of getting DM’s all the time. It would be locked and would be like the name change thread.

Morgan. 17-06-2019 05:12 PM

All for this.

Matthew. 17-06-2019 05:12 PM

Great idea :worship: It was suggested like a year ago iirc but it was never implemented. A shame because it would benefit the forum quite a bit imo

sleleen 17-06-2019 05:12 PM

Like blurry said
“Yeah a public infraction thread would be welcome. It would be interesting to see what people are infracted for so we know where we stand in rules, and it works for transparency reasons too.”

Mitchell 17-06-2019 05:14 PM

Blurryface has received an infraction for Introducing Lewis Thorp to the world

DouglasS 17-06-2019 05:14 PM

Seems a way to open up for trolling if it’s ‘public’. Also a way for people to see “I got banned but he didnt!!!” constantly. People just need to stop being attention seeking

Beso 17-06-2019 05:15 PM

Can we have whoever reported it in bold underneath as well please so the infracted person can attempt to make amends in future posts with the grass..

sleleen 17-06-2019 05:15 PM

Yeah I think this would benefit the forum a lot and would put closure to people wondering if they got an infraction for certain things.

unless the mod/admin can explain what is "baiting" and "trolling" i cant see much of it being helpful

i find ( and i have some infraction experience) its a catch all term to hit someone who is getting lots of reports but inst breaking rules

imo

Matthew. 17-06-2019 05:24 PM

Or if we can’t have this, an idea could be to make the infractions tab open to people on your friends list just like visitor messages are.

Ant. 17-06-2019 05:25 PM

Make it so we can see which mod or admin gives us infractions too!

There was a ban thread at some point, but the authority axed it.

Ant. 17-06-2019 05:33 PM

Josy has received an infraction from James for being adamant that we shouldn't have a like button

Our mods are better than that, the situation you describe is fake news

RileyH 17-06-2019 05:41 PM

me when someone's a nasty bitch to me and i then see their infraction pop up

I hope a mod makes an official one. All it takes is to make a thread and lock it, it’s that easy. Or you could do ‘Recent User Infractions’ button

I like the button idea

Morgan. 17-06-2019 06:10 PM

Can we get told what the course of action was if we report something too. Like if I reported something, to be kept in the loop about if the reported member was infracted, banned or nothing was done.

Josy 17-06-2019 06:15 PM

Other peoples infractions are no one else's business.

But how are we meant to know if anything was done about our complaint?

How are we supposed to know that the report function is successful and that we are being listened to if we can’t see the results?

Unless the mods just don’t want us to use the report function :idc:

Trolling - posting comments and or threads in an attempt to deliberately cause offense, trouble, get a negative rise out of other members or disrupt the forum.

Baiting - deliberately posted comments and or threads designed to annoy/harass/anger other members

sleleen 17-06-2019 06:25 PM

Unless the mods just don’t want us to use the report function :idc:

All reports are checked, if the mod checking it feels it needs dealt with then it gets done, not all reports are for things that break the forum rules for example sometimes members will happily ignore a rule break by a friend in a thread yet report the very next post that isnt actually a rule break because it was posted by someone they dont get along with.

We also get some daft reports for example

'RileyH - this bitch needs banned' for something completely innocent that does not need banned or even reported in the first place, it wastes our time.

If we can’t have report updates can we know who said that please

I know, but I think blurry is trying to say how is he meant to know if the person he complained about got anything done with the mods?

Actually it is, when something we feel benefits the forum is suggested and can be added it is, smileys are added from this forum, profile favourites, I've added some bbcode that was suggested that's just off the top of my head, but I've also pointed out many many times that not everything that is suggested is good for or suitable for the forum

I personally think a like/reaction button would be good for the forum but it's really not as simple as some think like going into the control panel and clicking a button, James has added a lot of mods to this forum and he writes a lot of code himself so when adding new things they need to be sourced first and he then a lot of the time has to rewrite the code so it doesnt affect other mods negatively.
