Have you ever...
... done drugs or drank on the job? Would’ve been unthinkable to me ten years ago but with the amount of professionals snorting on the job you never know.
|
No and I don't think I ever would tbh
Definitely not drugs anyway, alcohol... maybe but not actually to the point of being drunk |
Just a beer during a lunch break once or twice, during the summer, really
|
In my third week of college I turned up to lesson stoned (my friends and I tried weed for the first time during the lunch break lmao)
|
I would never do such a thing.

I've worked in places, a long time ago, where we went to the pub most Fridays lunch times. |
Alcohol yes. Several times. Drugs obvs not because i dont follow satan x
|
Both, a lot in my time. At school, at uni and at work
|
I’ve done a few lemsip’s in my time.
|
Literally on the last day before we break up for Christmas I would have a glass or two of baileys before I go. But that would be the only time
|
Never. If I was to have even a glass of wine with my lunch I'd struggle to stay awake in the afternoon.
|
I've had a few drinks but I was working in a bar, all of us worked split shifts so we'd usually go drinking on the 3 hour break

Yes I would

When are you off to Italy? |

Wednesday, can't wait! |
Only on a Friday and even then it’s mostly always one

Something that made us laugh in Rome... on the stands where they sell cigarettes, drinks, souvenirs etc. They had a hot priests calendar. Made no sense to me. Although I did buy one for my friend Alice, who likes a challenge. |

On the job had a different meaning in these parts back in the day.
So, yes I have been drunk and legless on the job in that way. Taking into account that alcohol stays in your system much longer than I realised then I have also gone to work after about an hours sleep and very much full of plonk:blush: |

Working in the city, we would go out and have 4-6 pints, 2 or 3 lunchtimes a week .... that was a while ago though
A few times we just never bothered going back to work as it would have spoiled the vibe :hee: |
Yup. Our manager used to actually sell is the drugs to take at work, so that we had enough energy to do the 16 hour shifts he would stick us on. I can only imagine what it was like for customers woming in to be served and seeing all the staff off their tits gurning away

Cocaine is definitely more acceptable these days. Especially among professionals

Too much riding on the line to be mixing business with pleasure

I've gone to work still rat arsed from the night before.

Lol. This thread’s pretty old to be fair.

Corrie seems to have a slew of yuppie professionals getting half-cut at lunch at the minute. A symptom of how overly normalised alcohol is in our culture, no-doubt. If someone had to nip out for half a spliff (maybe not a squirt of CBG oil) at lunchtime to help them think, they’d risk being called a stoner and getting an unnecessary reputation. But because it’s alcohol (a much more destructive and unhealthy drug), it’s acceptable, even encouraged, to go for a pint or a large white wine on your lunch-break to ‘help you concentrate.’ Not good.
Alcohol doesn’t even give pure euphoria. Spiritually, introspectively and as far as more nuanced feelings and deep thought go, it’s as bereft as a substance can get, if we’re being honest. And, again, I’ve been sacked for drinking heavily on the job, so part of me’s already a little biased against the practice at this point, now I’ve taken the time to really think it through, what drinking like a fish was adding to my life beyond the need for a bigger overdraft, even when I was earning properly good money. |
Only in certain circumstances. Part of my job involves schmoozing clients, and so there have been times where I've been drinking around clients and even some times when we've gone clubbing etc... and been a little drunk, all in the name of work.

I’ve been foolishly insinuated to be a raging alcohol-dependent just because I said I wouldn’t want to go totally teetotal forever (I never meant just a week on antibiotics or Valium) in the name of medication but I know myself and how much the opposite is true, and that matters more than the bait of a complete stranger. If anything, I can’t stand how overly normalised and deeply ingrained in British culture alcohol is (and, of-course, the hypocrisy/double standards concerning alcohol versus other drugs), and I’ve said that enough times. The relationship with alcohol I have these days is such that I like a good pub-sesh and a few bottles of perry in-and-around that and that’s the extent of it. I rarely go to bars these days. Been there, done that. I don’t mind it but I’m very intentional about spending money on things like that, and have been for the past 3 years. Short of genuine alcoholism/alcohol-abuse, you know your rhythm, limits and values. I wouldn’t stretch them into work if those values don’t act as a deterrent for them, outside certain circumstances, but everyone’s their own person. I’m just stating my own boundaries.
