It's virtually impossible for third-party candidates to become president because of the rule which says the winning candidate has to win a majority of the electoral college. If that doesn't happen the US Congress votes on who to make president, and they would just vote along party lines.

A third-party candidate can still influence the election debate of course.

Unless you have the full support of an eccentric billionaire. Expect POTUS West!

Kanye running could be the "balance tipper", I think. Whichever candidate will win, I think it'll be another case of the votes being just shy of 50/50 and the win coming down the electoral college without the winner needing the popular vote.

But Kanye joining the race, even in just a small number of states, is a cat among pigeons that could be the cincher.

People are saying he'll take Biden's votes, but I'll bet there are some "anyone but Trump, Biden sucks too" type voters who'll go for him.
