https://www.thejakartapost.com/life/...ire-award.html

this year they had won 2020 Unicef Inspire Award for their ''Love Myself'' Campaign

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Myself_(campaign)

Purpose for campaign was ''Anti-Violence''

something they made headlines for too back in 2018, when they were invited by UN, for their speech for this campaign

Not into K-pop myself, but it makes a lot of people happy so good for them :)

joeysteele 14-09-2020 08:21 AM

They entertain, they bring pleasure to millions.
Good for them.
I also think they do bridge age groups.

I think for their energy and dedication their acclaim is warranted.

and it is both youth and elderly who love these efforts from them for this good cause

tbh i am not one of those hardcore k-pop fans either

but i just like these guys a lot, how they use their social media following, resources to their advantage to try and make the world a better place

remember gangnam style icon Psy, he is a dad now of 2, and he has his own record label for new talented singers, rappers

You forget, I was and remain a fan of Jedward too.

there has been rumours about one of their members ''Jin''

Kim Seok-Jin what his full name is

if he is the son of a CEO, speculation either can be Kim Nam-Jung (of Dongwon Industries a major fishing company) or Kim Nam-Goo (of Korean Investment Holdings, one of south-korean major banks) those 2 Nam-Goo, Nam-Jung are related as well, through Kim Jae-Chul who was founder of Dongwon Industries

and speculations his mother is a former Miss Korea pageant (either contestant or winner not sure there but she has a familiar face)

but Jin himself always kept his personal life very private, only said his father to be a CEO of a major company with a overseas office in germany

maybe this is why he kept it private, not to be seen as a ''rich kid who has a perfect life, perfect family'' very admirable how despite this background he fought for his place in BTS, same as every other member of the group

here they are again, an empowering message about lifting each other through hard times, at a Youth Day Ceremony which south korean president Moon also attended

there was social distancing, everyone wore masks too at this event, and it was in the open air

ArgyESC 03-10-2020 01:05 PM

On April 26, BTS held a one-hour livestream countdown featuring a melting cube of butter. At the end of the countdown, it was revealed that they were releasing their second English-language single, "Butter", on May 21. Its music video broke the record for the biggest YouTube premiere of all time, garnering 3.9 million concurrent viewers, and became the most viewed YouTube video on its first day, with 108.2 million views. "Butter" debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the group's fourth number one in the last nine months, making them the quickest act to reach four number ones since Justin Timberlake a decade-and-a-half ago and the fastest group to score four number ones since the Jackson 5 in 1970. On June 16, 2021, BTS, the Best, the group's sixth compilation album, sold 572,000 copies, breaking SixTones' record of 467,000 copies to become Japan's greatest-selling record in a week. On June 28, "Butter" became the group's longest running #1 debut in Hot 100 history, breaking the 23-year record held by Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" (1998). On July 9, they released their third English-language single, "Permission to Dance". On July 19, "Permission to Dance" became their fifth consecutive No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart in 10 months and two weeks, making it the fastest accumulation of a quintet of leaders since Michael Jackson more than three decades ago.

https://worldhours24.com/bts-will-me...eptember-14th/

BTS will first meet south korean President Moon on September 14th, for the official ''special presidential envoy'' handover ceremony at the Blue House

afterwards they will travel to New York, for the 76th UN General assembly, where they will again give another speech on September 21st

Nicky91 13-09-2021 07:04 AM

https://www.billboard.com/articles/n...20this%20award.

BTS won a VMA last night, but weren't there in person, and the reason why they had to cancel their performance there too, is simple

more because they are meeting their president in the blue house tomorrow, for something more important, the presidential envoy thing

and also because after that they will go directly to New York, for the United Nations on 24th
