Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer (Netflix Jan 13)
This looks so good - very creepy. Love a good true crime documentary.
All about burglar, rapist and serial killer Richard Ramirez, or "The Night Stalker" whose night time home invasions terrorised Los Angeles and San Francisco in the mid 80's. Honestly when you read up on what he did... Just terrifying. |
If you want to read up before you watch: Wikipedia profile of Richard Ramirez
Harrowing reading in many parts. |
Ramirez is honestly terrifying. The things he did were absolutely hideous and he clearly enjoyed it and relished in the attention it got him.
|
Out now - gonna start watching tonight!

He really was unbelievably evil.
The eyeballs in the jewellery box thing just makes me ill. |
Bye this man was so terrifying
|
Didn’t he used to taunt his victims for months before like ringing their house and giggling down the phone so they knew it was him?
And I swear he crept into this girls room saying her name really creepily and laughing when she was hiding bye |

Maybe you’re thinking of someone like The Zodiac Killer? |
After just setting out to watch the first episode last night I ended up being unable to turn it off and watched the whole thing, all four episodes.
Absolutely brilliant documentary but so terrifying. Well recommended!! |

Half way through
Excellent |

The way he was caught is SO satisfying I have to say. Almost the perfect comeuppance for him in regards to the way he was operating.
|
Richard Ramirez is possibly the scariest serial killer I’ve ever heard of after watching this documentary.

I really want the same people to do a series on "The Hillside Stranglers" now after they were mentioned in the show, and others from LA's dark past. |

Also found out from further reading his first murder victim was a 9 year old girl which they left out of the documentary. I wonder why he killed that girl but then spared all of his other child victims’ lives. |

I think that was the Golden State Killer...an ex Police Officer. |
I can’t stop thinking about this case, it’s so terrifying :worry:
|
I’ll NEVER forget it NEVER /kim
|
I watched this tonight and it's confirmed that Ramirez is one of the creepiest killers ever, he enjoyed scaring his victims so much it makes my skin crawl.
The golden state killer is really awful too, the phone calls...especially the heavy breathing one when he whispers to the poor woman he'll kill her. Imagine being home alone and hearing that. |
The fact Ramirez was only like 24/25 as well when he committed his crimes like wtf
|
And besides the rotted teeth from drug abuse he was actually pretty good looking too. So scary. I can’t stop thinking about all those people he literally killed in their beds :/

I agree Cal, it's just left me feeling "funny" since I watched it. I went straight into the Bundy doc on Netflix after and that was just horrible too - I had NO idea he escaped TWICE and the second time for like a month where he killed again, those poor girls in the college dorms in Florida. Just insane. Ramirez was just a complete sicko who attacked completely at random it seems - Bundy was an extremely calculating, methodical man. I don't which is more horrifying honestly. |
3 episodes: "The shoe! The shoe! THE SHOE IS THE KEY!!!"
Final episode: "He binned the shoe, shoe lead came to nothing, and got caught because a random member of the public called with a tip off" It was a good documentary, really fascinating, but I can't figure out why they put so much focus on the inconseqential shoe :joker: (OK, yes, I can see that it was still key in linking many of the various crimes to one person, but I really thought it was going to play a bigger role in solving the case...). TBH I reckon it was actually an owl anyway. |
What an evil sadistic bastard this **** was :/
|
Also will never understand why these people end up with a fan base after the crimes they commit it's just ****ing weird and creepy
|
and of course for every one like him, were 10 that got away

Just finished, the most frustrating part was them missing him at the dentist. Oh and him dying of natural causes too
|
Don’t think I’ll ever get over this

Also agree about his "groupies" wtf is wrong with these people, how they could sit in a court room and listen to all his victims, what he did, the people left behind and still find that monster attractive, disgusting. And that poor woman who's grandmother was murdered and she had to leave because she found listening to it all too distressing sitting next to the guy who was clearly there supporting that ogre too |

He was repulsive inside and out. Just had such an evil look about him without even knowing about his crimes.
|
Isn’t it an actual disorder to be attracted to criminals or something? I’m not sure. I think his teeth aside he was very visually attractive and I understand these ‘groupies’ didn’t start seeing him at the trial until he’d been in prison for a while and had gotten clean from drugs, had dental work done and was practicing better hygiene but I can’t see how you could still find somebody like that attractive after hearing about what they’d done.
