I've never heard of him before today but from googling him I pretty glad I hadn't. In the articles I have read he is sexist, racist and homophobic. The Aids feature is indefensible really....although he regretted it apparently.

I would have happily lived without ever knowing about him and his views to be fair

He was an arsehole in life and I will not pretend to mourn his death. There's one less **** on this planet than there was yesterday.

Yeah had never heard of him either but if he said and did all those things then I can see why people wouldn't be sad about him dying

Celebrating a death (unless, arguably, it's of someone physically dangerous, I suppose) never sits right with me, however, I wasn't particularly aware of this guy and now that I've read/heard some of the things he was saying... I think it's fair enough to counter suggestions that he was a "legend" or "a great guy". And to suggest that his words are just "a political stance" or "an opinion" is a bit of a stretch - they are objectively hateful.

...I think that it’s considering some society sections as well...if he was hugely homophobic in his remarks and that tended to be his leaning in being very vocal in his stance, for instance ....then, I do have some understanding because people are personally touched by such ‘hate’ filled words ...and with racist remarks which I did listen to on one vid when I searched who he was and again I can understand the feeling toward him and death won’t change that for some people...


...I have no interest in commenting on his death even in realising why some feelings were as they were and have viewed what I have of him in his own words..but it wouldn’t be for me to criticise others because it’s a very layered thing, I think ...with regards to someone so obviously controversial...
