Gay paramedic burnt alive in homophobic attack.
A gay paramedic has been burnt alive in an alleged homophobic attack in Latvia.
Normunds Kindzulis, 29, died after he was doused in flammable fuel and set ablaze in the suspected arson at his home. The victim was tragically unable to survive his horrific injuries that left him with burns to 85% of his body Another gay man was also burned in the blaze as he rushed to Normunds' aid, campaigners urging the police to treat the incident as a homophobic hate crime claimed, according to the*Star Online. Normunds was rushed to hospital for burns treatment in Latvia's capital of Riga following the alleged attack on April 23. |
"Homophobic attack"
as its not been established - some are saying suicide here is a link: https://www.euronews.com/2021/04/30/...ampaigners-say |
the police weren't going to investigate it and are the ones saying it was probably suicide, but how can that be determined without an investigation. I would suggest there is some clear bias from the police

OMG how atrocious ! I m very sad and shocked by this , talk about uncivilised. How can people treat other people like this for such a brain dead reason, its disgusting. |

Evil Attack and Murder
|
"Latvia's President Egils Levits tweeted: "There is no place for hatred in Latvia," adding that if it was confirmed to be a homophobic attack, the criminal would be more guilty."
|
Eastern Europe is an embarrassment when it comes to it's attitude towards LGBT people. There is no doubt that this attack was homophobic in nature, and sadly, this murder will likely go unsolved since the police are less likely to solve the case if it's an LGBT victim.
Evil and hate go hand in hand, and the latter enables the former. |

This is incredibly sad and clearly not a suicide attempt, I think even saying so is incredibly disrespectful.
I hope they catch the culprits, this man was worth so much and I hope his family know he's a hero. |

Poor poor man. |
What a terrible way to die, poor, poor man, I hope justice is served, but somehow doubt it
|
What a handsome young man. He should have escaped.

if a pedestrian gets run over by a car, we don't automatically say the pedestrian obviously intended to kill themselves. The police would investigate and see what actually happened.
If someone dies from burning, the default is not ... it must have been suicide, no need to investigate. The police investigate and find out what happened. This is basic stuff, and the blinkers being put on by some people are laughable |
Horrific way to die poor guy
|
I just don't understand the casual attitude here ,even if it WAS suicide and that's a big IF , someone has still died in a horrific disturbing way.

this is horrible yes, but we'll see what we will get to know from the investigation maybe this was something personal who knows, i mean setting someone alight makes me think into that direction either, because normal homophobic attacks usually is more physical beating, kicking cases like this have happened here in my nation too (not to gay people specifically but whenever there was a personal vendetta or conflict) |

if indeed a homophobic attack then yes it is disgusting but if another motive, then still disgusting since it is an attack against a key worker i personally don't really see Latvia as a homophobic nation  but tbh you have homophobes everywhere in the world i think, just in some countries more than in others |
Horrific...poor man.

Gay paramedic burnt alive in "homophobic attack". Just as it is in EVERY media report. It is done this way so as not to mislead. It is a journalistic rule and its one that we should adhere to. imo |

I think people have jumped the gun on this thread and making something out of nothing regarding attitude. Newspaper articles have stipulated that 'suicide' was being investigated thats all...but quite probably this wasnt the case. People mentioning this are merely quoting newspaper reports and by no means downplaying or disrespecting what happened to this poor man.

You don't have to comment on other threads to make your opinion in this thread valid, not seeing or responding to certain threads doesn't make the fact that a cavalier attitude (and in some cases, denial of the nature of this attack) any less tasteless. It's not a competition, stop trying to make it so by comparing the two incidents and keeping note of who posts in different threads like it somehow diminishes what they have to say, because it doesn't. It's just an incredibly lazy way of trying to bat aside views you don't like. |
