This powerful one-off documentary follows pop star Leigh-Anne Pinnock as she confronts her experience as the only black member of Little Mix, and as a black woman in the music industry. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p09fy1qy |

Noticed it listed when scrolling through channels, is this a one off documentary? .

One thinks shes the victim of the group because she’s too black
One thinks shes the victim of the group because she’s too fat and ugly One thinks shes the victim of the group because she’s too slutty One thinks shes the victim of the group because she’s too weird |

Keisha from Sugababes was done dirty by her management. |

Seems all the little mix group are jumping on the documentary bandwagon.
Black women and POC have always excelled in the music industry I thought, black women in particular are some of the biggest selling divas of the 80s and 90s (Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson for just two examples but there are so many) She earns millions, living her dream, dating a footballer and yet she’s life’s victim |

I think its pathetic to dwell on it and try to seek sympathy from people who live standard lives, a lot who are on minimum wage, when your a successful multi millionaire. |

If you're more offended about people talking about racism then you are about racism itself, you're part of the problem.

Just think she’s copied Jesy to make a documentary as it worked out with Jesy. Feel like if the documentary was about bullying she’d have done that instead. Just grabbing cash where she can |
There is certainly offense. Screaming about how they are professional victims and their music is 'terrible' just because a black woman spoke about racism reeks of people being offended by the discussion of racism. A bunch of white men downplaying her experiences and victim blaming because they don't want to hear is them being offended by the discussion of racism.

It may look that way to someone with limited reading comprehension, yes.

Its just another Bandwagon to jump on. If you have any kind of objection to it you must be Racist... |

Why is some popstar making a little TV show causing such ire :joker:
I don't care about Little Mix so I only saw the beginning after Dragons' Den, but if she wants to use her fifteen minutes to talk about whatever she wants, why shouldn't she? If she were to egregiously misrepresent things or blatently lie then she'd be called out for it, otherwise who cares? She can go on about what she wants, as far as I'm concerned, unless she calls for violence, which I somehow doubt she did  |

White man with no connection to the music industry tells black woman in the industry herself that she's wrong about the racism in the industry she is discussing is not "an objection", at best it's a foolish attempt at baiting and at worst an offence taken at the discussion of racism rather than the racism itself. But, yeah, you don't like the forum members disagreeing with him so that makes it a bandwagon. Why even bother coming into the thread? |
To be fair, while "bandwagon" might not be the nicest way to paint it, it's certainly become a "hot topic" recently. Some dude passing away in police custody after
|
I'm glad people like Leigh-Ann , Keisha, Alexandra Burke etc are speaking out against racism. I don't understand why people have issue with that.

As for the struck out sentence, you're an idiot. |

how do you get "invented racism" from that? :conf: Also just calling people names is playground tactics, Josy already posted about this type of post only today. |

George Floyd "sparked the issue" of racism in the music industry? Ok buddy. George Floyd brought it to YOUR attention it seems. Not that you'll pay attention. |
I genuinely don't understand why anyone came here to slate a young black woman talking about how she's been treated within the industry she works in.
It's horrible to see anyone demean her experiences and it's very telling about how toxic this forum has become with racists and trolls being left to cripple it. |

Lmao white people having an issue with a black girl speaking about race issues that she deals with daily which white people will never know how that feels. Just because she is successful doesn't mean she doesn't get comments. Actually watch the documentary

I never said I had a problem with the content of the documentary... IMO they would have had more of an impact on these issues had they raised them 2/3 years ago at the height of their fame......but the money they were making was obviously more important than their mental health at the time. I hate racism and I hate bullying and I empathise with what they had to endure..both her and Jesy but why wait until now to bring it to light. People are having to endure bullying and racism all over the world but don’t have the platform they do and don’t have their wealth as some sort of comfort...because it is a comfort. |
