Birmingham:Hosp.Worker used dead patient's bank card to buy crisps, sweets and fizzy
Covid Hospital Worker
Used dead patient's bank card to buy crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks. Scum/ [A healthcare assistant working on a COVID ward has been convicted of using a dead patient's bank card to buy crisps, fizzy drinks and sweets from a hospital vending machine. Ayesha Basharat, 23, took the card from an 83-year-old woman who had recently passed away at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham. A doctor recorded her time of death as 1.56pm on 24 January, but just 17 minutes later, Basharat made six £1 purchases using the vending machine's contactless payment system.] https://news.sky.com/story/hospital-...chine-12329096 |
£6. Grim.
Not that it would be "fine" if someone stole significantly more than that, but seriously. It reminds me of when little bits and pieces of charity money used to get stolen from the counter at work. Like obviously all stealing is wrong but you can ALMOST understand someone running off with £100 that they've seen lying on the counter... ...but when someone pilfers a £2 coin from cancer research, it's just somehow so much more sad. |
I... almost admire the audacity :worry:
|
my contactless payment is on my watch which requires my pulse to use it
|
honestly if i die do i give a **** if someone used my money to buy a meal deal for their lunch? i wouldn't because i'll be dead

Why is nobody wondering why this hospital worker is going through a dead patient's personal belongings in the first place , the only way you'd want to go through a patient's wallet / personal stuff etc is to find ID and contact details for their family and next of kin surely ? . Why would the first thought be to steal money/ use their credit cards??!:umm2:

Its not about the amount or what she bought. Its an abuse of her position and the trust the family have put in the NHS. I am sure she was overworked and underpaid as a HCA at the moment but stealing from a dead woman....is low.
It may seem trivial to some as it was only £6 but that woman's family will not think like that. They have just lost a family member and someone is stealing from them before they're even cold??? Grim tbh |
